  1. Since like 100 news outlets are now reporting this news, it's a safe bet to make this official Welcome thread. Welcome Coach! Wishing you great success in this endeavor and hope you hit a home run sooner rather than later! We all hope you will...wait for it...kill it! Welcome to Albany (both the U and the city)!

  2. I was/am among those un-happy when Brown left, let go, whatever. I felt and still do, that other than Iati, the entire group of assistant coaches, not Brown should have been let go. Felt with more support from the top [financially & other]; Will would have been the best option to get UA basketball back on track. Obviously, Will was not about to purge his staff and Administration was not about to provide much in assistance. Knew, we would NOT be bringing in a "big" time head coach. With all that said, I'm pretty positive about Killings from what I've read and heard so far. He appears

  3. In 2020 - 4 kids transferred out in 2019 - 2 kids transferred out in 2018 - 4 kids left, granted 2 were grad transfers in 2017 - 4 kids transferred out on and on and on, roster stability has never been a thing at UA. Every year, almost half the team leaves, resulting in the following year half the team having to pick up a new offense etc. My hope is with the new coaching staff there is some roster stability and not half or more of the recruiting class being misses. Recruiting has been BAD for a while and one of the reasons so many kids leave.

  4. For what it’s worth, the posters on the Marquette MBB board are very complimentary of Killings and not at all happy he’s leaving. So there’s that.

  6. Apparently he’s also very active in using his platform, with other Big East coaches, as an agent for change. That seems to make coaches like Kerr, Pop and Marr loved by his players. the more I read the more I really like.

  8. I wondered that also, credits transferring, different majors and requirements at each school, etc. Previously when you had to sit out a year from D1 to D1, you can catch up academically. Student-athletes these days don't have any loyalty and love to a school and don't care if they attend 3 or 4 schools. For me, once I accepted UA as my school, I was a Great Dane for life, never considering transferring even when I did not get in the business school for accounting. Changed major and stayed. Think it helped that I stayed on campus all 4 years on Dutch Quad to get the full college experience

  9. Nope never said that. In fact you can look back as I said WB got unlucky this season with Covid and I would have extended him. My problem is with the clear ties with WB on this board. His contract ended and they decided to move on. Clearly it was so bad you should be happy that your close friend does not have to deal with such a toxic boss anymore.

  10. Yeah all in the family, sort of like hiring all your former players as assistants.

  11. Dude ... you said the hire would be mid April. I said this Friday... I don't see anywhere where it says he was fired .... Anyone who is an Albany fan needs to give this guy a chance.

  12. His stats are not impressive (although generally got limited minutes) but he's still a Big East talent. Maybe Coach can bring him here to be closer to home and all that and he can be at least as good as Will Harris was.

  15. Exactly. I have not read one person say how the heck did this guy get a head coaching job except for Albany fans. Praises from Marquette and fans of UConn.

  16. At least as excited (or pretend) as you were for the last 3 straight losing seasons and a half-a-decade of cannon fodder not in the first round of the NCAA's but the first round of the AE tourney...or not, whatever.

  18. I love this hire. Exactly what we need. Young, known to be a great recruiter and has been at the highest levels. Not sure the offense he’s going to run but checks all the boxes.

  19. Click it is all good we know how much you love the program. I hope coach Killings (weird spelling another coaches name after 20 years) comes in hungry and does well. Good luck Coach K

  23. We were never getting a guy without head coaching experience. If you would have told me we are getting an assistant from the big east, I would have said he'll yeah.
