  1. I think the response to this whole pandemic has been what the military refers to as a “clusterf***.” The hyper partisan politics and polarized media coverage have exacerbated everything. Every step or misstep is magnified and used for political advantage. The President runs his mouth when he ought to just shut up. The congressional leadership either remains silent or lies and uses inflammatory language. The so called experts change course on a whim or for a non medical reason. The models and predictions have been horribly wrong. The Gov made some horrible decisions and ridiculous forecasts of

  3. Hello everyone. Wasn’t sure where to post this then I saw the questions about where is David. Looks like you all got most of it right. He is playing in Cyprus and doing well. Recently launched a business during his downtime between games and so far looks like his decision to pass on the G League for Europe was the right call. Wanted to post an interview David recently did as I thought (based on previous discussions) you may enjoy the content. At the 1:06 mark David is asked to compare the coaching staffs at UA and FSU. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/hear-the-s

  6. Not optimistic about seeing many games and never really was. In the spring of 2020, some friends who work at a health care provider told me their headquarters would be remote until summer of 2021. That's when life would possibly begin to resemble "normal." If Covid were a plumbing issue, I would listen to plumbers. If Covid were a legal issue, I would listen to lawyers. But it's a health issue so I've listened to people in the health care industry. I also had a client who is younger than me (earlier 40s with no previous health conditions) get Covid. They were in a coma for a month, hospi

  8. Anyone who thinks the statement 'black lives matter' is racist, or is intended to make white people feel sorry for being white, has a fundamental misunderstanding of what the movement is about. Please, let me try to help you understand.... Right now, when you hear "black lives matter' you're interpreting it as "black lives matter more than white/blue/latino/asian lives", which is incorrect. That is *not* what the movement is about, but unfortunately many have been lead to believe this by people who want to delegitimize the movement. The correct way to interpret is: "black lives matte

  11. UMBC big guys may be more athletic but were brutal at the free throw line - 3 of 9. That hurt them down the stretch. Tough road win to bounce back after the Hartford loss. Healy and Ahmad go 2-12 from three and we win on the road. I'll take that. Great to see other guys stepping up, we're a different team when other guys score besides the two big guns. Love De Sousa posting up. Would love to see more of that.

CDC/WHO can't seem to agree on guidelines, Cuomo sends thousands of seniors to their death thanks to his nursing home fiasco, we have reports that for every 1 confirmed case there is likely 10 not confirmed but for sure sick, we keep hearing that labs are screwing up results which is leading to false positives or false negatives (which is doing who knows what to the numbers which are then used to dictate policy), protests are allowed to go on

  15. I’d have to see what the plan was and what the infection rates were at the time. If it can be done safely, sure. I was at some games last year where it looked like most of the upper deck was practicing social distancing anyway. The opposite stands are usually sparsely occupied. I’d give it a shot unless it was apparent people were taking unnecessary risks. I still see brain dead a-holes walking around stores without a mask.

  16. There's an interesting working paper that was recently published by a couple of economists that looked at the economic impact of social distancing and quarantine among different US cities during the 1918 Pandemic, which is the closest analogue to this pandemic. They found that cities that took aggressive and early public health measures to slow down the spread actually recovered quicker economically than cities who did not respond as quickly or aggressively. I guess having a few million people dead is not good for economic recovery. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=356

I could see fall sports delayed or cancelled, but honestly, if we as a country aren't back to normal by the time winter sports start practice we will have much bigger issues than college sports. We will be in the great depression 2.0 and it will be bad. Very bad. Like more people suffering and potential deaths than the virus could kill if every American caught it type bad.

  18. A simple 1-32 ranking doesn’t tell you how far apart conferences are. I used to argue this with $iena fans when they’d say the MAAC was so superior to AE. Leagues 14 and 30 were as close as 1 and 6. It’s like the Power 6 conferences are generals, there are about five leagues that are lieutenants, and the other 20 are arguing over who deserves to be Private First Class.

  20. Not much point in arguing about Clark anymore. Yes, he often tried to do too much and yes he often made shaky decisions but watching him all year, he competed harder than any player in recent memory. If we had another PG to move him off the ball it would have been a different story but this whole season has been one if. Great to see Cam Healy look like Cam Healy.

  21. Great to see Ahmad get the recognition as he played all-out, all the time. Finished 5th in the conference in scoring, 4th in assists and 3rd in steals. Sorry to see the season crumble around him because he made great strides this year.

  22. Last game of the regular season. Team is on a slide going into game 30 at home vs. SBU. A loss there gives this game 0 value. A win might make this important for a home game in the playoffs (unlikely) . 23. (I'm sure they are all individually fine men but...) This team sucks so bad. Honestly, if every single player quit and left the team and we started from scratch, I'd be more pumped about the future than I am right now. Not a single bright spot to look forward too. I had business trips to start February and basically didn't follow UA hoops for a good 2-3 weeks as I was on the road and came back to this absolute horse $iena of a basketball program. Unwatchable. Undefendable. Unspinnable. Unmitigated disaster. As a Jets fan, I'm used to 'just end the season' chants...never thought it would

  26. Agree. That's your captain being a captain. Ahmad was locked in. Thought he made a nice effort late in the game to get Rizzuto the ball and maybe get him going offensively. He's been a monster in conference play. Great energy from the seniors - Clark, Lauderdale and Hansen. Maybe Hansen's best game since he's been here. Would be great to see the seniors take ownership of their remaining game and go out a winner. Healy...just wow. Crowd was 2K but it seemed like more. Maybe just because everyone went bananas when Frusc hit the bucket to go over 100. That was a party.

  27. This is a program that has been a in trouble for a while. Over the last few years I've been very vocal in my disappointment. Now I can't even work up the anger to light myself on fire here. Let's face it, the cold hard truth is that this program is dead or near dead. A program pretending to be Div 1 for whatever reason. A few years ago it started going sideways and now plowing new depth of emberassing. I'm not calling out the kids who are trying nor am I gonna go in on them. From AD down this program is a failure though....remains to be seen if the train can be put back on the tracks.

  28. I am a long time, avid supporter of this team, this coach, and this program.....so let me say what we are all hesitant to say: This team is bad and almost unwatchable; there are probably 3 decent Division One level players on the squad; the level of our talent has dropped off dramatically over the past few years and those players (other than Cam Healey) are grad transfers; there is no plan in place - the current team is just a mishmosh of players thrown together - as opposed to building off some young foundation; we have no real PG; we have absolutely NO inside game; we used to put some f

About the only normal thing was the lcc coach is whining again (in the times useless) about other coaches. This time they aren't "honest" and afraid to play his team. LOL Probably never occurred to him when in normal times you act bigger than you are, refuse home and home with other midmajors thinking they should be lined up to play every year on your court you aren't going to have other teams lined up to play your garbage school.

  35. I have mostly been trying to stay out of this conversation; but would like like to offer one opinion and pose a couple of question. My opinion is: EVERY opinion matters and everyone has a right to express theirs in a civil and lawful way. My questions have to do with the phrase "Black Lives Matter." When the movement was first taking form, many said why not change it to ALL Lives Matter. The response was, if you desire to make this change you DO NOT understand the issues. Well I guess, I still do not understand the issues? Secondly, many felt BLM should not only address police brutality,

  38. BLM and their cover statement of Black Lives Matter is fine. Problem with BLM is once you get past the front door. As someone born and raised in Soviet Union ... what they advocate and stand for is truly frighting once you get past the statement. Primarily of concern for me are their strong ties to Marxist communist idiology...having had a front row seat to this party first half of my life...I speak not of theoraticals. Founders of the movement personally verbalize this so this is not debatable. I have no problem with players kneeling...it's a free country (mostly still)...do what you got

I’m also awaiting word regarding what the plan is as my wife is in a couple high risk categories. Other than not having Eli to annoy, not having my customary seats or watching on TV would not be the worst things to happen in 2020. If the Athletic Dept is so dismissive of our concerns and can’t get their act together enough to contact season ticket holders and GDAC members, then maybe they need a wake up call. We actually need people to get sick and recover right now, we just need it to happen slowly so we don't overload the healthcare system. Social distancing is good, but this wear a mask everywhere and avoid everyone will do more harm than good - unless we want to stay with everything shut down until a 100% effective vaccine is available (at least a year from now, if ever) It's called "Herd Immunity" look it up. Learn about it. Once "herd immunity" is reached, the spread of the disease will quic

  47. Hansen has played very well the last 10 games or so but I'm not 100 percent sure about mismanaging him. He was really really bad the first 10 games. Shot like 25 percent and was out of postion all the time. He has really evolved as a player. In this case it was a good coaching job. Makes me wonder about the other players.

  48. This team is good when then can control the faceoff and don't have to play defense. Altimari looked good at times but his complete lack of effort when in pursuit after losing faceoffs gave harvard multiple fast break goals, coaches cant let that happen. Unsettled/ transition defense is horrible, nate didn't play well for three quarters but the defense is constantly giving up high percentage opportunities and leaving him out to dry. Hay has work to do, I don't think hes one of the top three close defenders on the team. Otherwise, the defense plays hard and with a lot of effort and has done well

  49. This is ridiculously hard for me to write....but I truly feel like Coach needs to look at his own staff and evaluate. It simply has not produced since the unfortunate departure of Chad O'Donnell. I truly believe he needs at least one, if not more fresh blood. We have had a strange year, and you need to account for injuries, etc. But the lack of progression and, in some cases severe regression, can't only be put on the kids. Right now, aside from Cam Healy and Trey Hutchinson, name me 3 other starters for next year. I'll wait while eating my burger...
