  1. I know that I have been quiet recently, even ignoring the basic banter of some $iena fans over here (which is very unlike me for anyone who knows me) I was glued to my computer screen for the Vermont game, workings Satrudays such is the life of an accountant during tax season, and then of course I went MIA from work on Friday to watch the game and managed to find the only two UVA fans in the whole bar....but I digress... As for next year here is what i see, Gifford will be a huge contributor next year, as one of the biggest bodies in the AE he gives us a huge advantage over most teams, the learning curve this year was huge for him and he responded as well as you could expect and I am excited for next year. While I will miss Jamar and Siggers, Carl Ross is truly someone who excites me, I think back to the purple and gold scrimmage talking with Coach and he called Ross, "the best athlete on the team"...to think that our best athlete was not a large contributor this year is very exciting for next year...I also look for Iati to have somewhat of a comeback next year, and of course we still have Lillis and Brent to keep us in every game with their grit and hustle. This season is only two days over and I already find myself feeling like Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore..."354 more days till hockey try-outs, gotta train!!!" Another great year for the DANES and I cant wait for the the AE dynasty to grow!!!!
  2. Be careful what you say about the conference or its officials, any possibiliy that Nero's strong hand could reach into the stands and suspend a fan?
  3. In his post yesterday to his website (See link above to willbrown.com) coach seems a little pissed off at the America East for scheduling so many games in few days in the beginning of Januray... "Take a look at our conference schedule. We play Jan. 3,6,9,11,13, and 15. Is that a joke or what? How can you make a team play the 9th, 11th, 13th, and 15th? You have no prep time and no practice time. We pride ourselves on our preparation and scouting reports. This makes it very difficult to be well prepared. Hopefully the AE Conference officials take a look at this mess because that is exactly what it is! One big mess!" Hopefully the team comes out making a statement in the first 15 days of the new year and the new season...THE CONFERENCE SEASON!!! Anyway I will be out on a boat (cruise) until January 7th, so Happy New Year to everyone and LETS GO DANES!!!
  4. Hoefully this years version will come in just as handy come conference time!!
  5. Sorry to be that guy, but this thread has to be one of my biggest pet peeve's...ask an A or B question and then ask for a Yes or No answer...either way couldn't help but to poke a little fun. Either way I vote YES, the danes will WIN, and that will always be my answer regardless of who we play!!!
  6. Might it have something to do with the quality of a state education as compared to that of LCC?
  7. Hahahaha, but that is a whole different discussion.
  8. Thanks for the kind words MTS and Tony, I may bitch and moan sometimes, but this is my release from the stresses of real life as Tony likes to say this is only Mid-Major hoops. Good luck the rest of the year and I think nothing could be better if both of the Capital region teams were dancing come March.
  9. I thought Lillis could also run the point. He has a good handle and pass first mentality (which i dont always like). I also think that it would open up Jamar to move without the ball and create some space. In terms of Gifford...I LOVE HIM!!! He showed great touch with that baby hook and a decent mid range jumper, once he gets a little hungrier on the boards he will be a force to be reckoned with. I like the way the team is shaping up, and I am very excited for the AE schedule. Any thoughts on our zone D? I liked the results it produced last night, it forced Siena to generally take a lot of time off the shot clock working the perimiter and it forece a few turnovers.
  10. To clear the air and my good name (or at least what is left of it) I am not blaming the officials for our loss and anyone that that thinks that I believe that is why we lost clearly read the first line of my post and stopped. Try reading the whole post and then get back to me. But I hate to be the bearer of bad news but occasionally officiating does have something to do with the outcome of the game, and if you think differnelty you were not paying attention last night. To bring up one questionable call on Haddix that he fouled out on is fine, how many questionable calls were made against Albany last night, or the non call of Jamar getting run over at half court right before the ally oop...but putting all that aside we still should have won the game and that has to come down on no one other than the players. As for my "shooting lights out comment" I was posting based on what I felt was what I saw, I did not have the opportunity to review the stat sheet. Bottom line the officials DID NOT win this game for Siena or lose it for Albany but they sure didnt make it any easier for us to win it.
  11. While tonights game was extermely exciting, am I the only one openly pissed off that we lost this game? There are a lot of reasons we lost this game, and to name a few: 1- the officiating of the game was exteremely onesided, I even saw Coach throw is hands in the air a few times 2- our perimiter defense was horrific 3- Siena shot the lights out, if they shoot this well all season they go undefeated 4- Our outside shooting was horrible I agree that the chants are a little pathetic and classless and sitting down in sec 129 row DD we were able to hear them, and while amusing, also uncalled for. As for the positives, Gifford showed some real promise and really owned Haddix on the offensive end a few times during the game, Siggers proved down the end why he is such an important part of this team. As for the negatives, we need to hit the free throws, we missed atleast 5 or 6 in regulation from guys like Jamar and Lillis that you need to hit. The offense needs to be able to run through someone other than Jamar at times, no one moved without the ball except for Siggers and Jamar. Anyway, now that I have had three hours to absorb all this in the car ride home, just look back to last year when we started 2-5, we all know how that season ended, so I know that I may have some people that disagree but if you told me that we would lose this game every but get to go dancing in March I would take that deal in a heartbeat. The real season starts in a month in conference cause as a one bid league its the only way we are going anywhere.
  12. That's so weird, if only that rule applied to all message boards!!!
  13. Here is some interesting food for thought, if there were already 10,000 tickets sold (is that a record for this match-up?) what do you think prompted the rise in popularity of the game? $iena's mediocre season in the MACC or is it possible that Albany's tap dance in the first round against UConn had something to do with it. Bottom line the game is great for both programs and I am looking forward to a great rumble (on the courts of course, although I have seen it in the stands) to take place in ALBANY, NY on Saturday night.
  14. Wait a seond, hold the presses, call the times useless...you mean a a preseason ranking is based on what a team is supposed to do this season, not what they did last season? Holy cow, earth shattering discovery. I would expect nothing less from Bob87, and I would expect nothing less then the uneducated response from a $iena fan.
  15. Maybe I missed it, but with the regular season less than a week away I was wondering if anyone had seen anything about the TV schedule that supposedly held up the release of our schedule?
  16. Based on the recent trends of the respective programs I am sure they would not want to risk that emabrassment twice in one season!! Wait a second Tony, MTS and other Siena friends, I was merely joking and I dont want this to turn into one of those 30 post threads about nothing... B9 makes a great point, why not play twice? I think it would be great for the rivalry and as the programs really are becoming more equal it would be a great rivalry for many years!!!
  17. It is plenty fair to UAlbany, great NCAA coverage for the Danes last year. 16972[/snapback] Two points, first we were the only local team actually PLAYING in the NCAA's so they had to cover us. Second, that's like saying that the new york media gave fair Mets coverage after the Yankees lost to the Tigers. Anyone in the metropolitan area can vouch for me that for the next three days the only stories talked about were "will Torre go", "should A-rod go?" meanwhile the Mets were still going. Sorry if i ranted off topic, i am still in mourning after sitting at game 7...pitchers and catchers in 3.5 months!! and I have Great Dane hoops to get me through the long cold winter!!!
  18. I second this motion, simply trying to get some insight into the plan, I would trust Coach Brown with my unborn children!!!
  19. So would this make him the next Jamar Wilson (if that is possible?) Being that my understanding of NCAA eligibility is slim to none, when and where would this guy fit into the plans?
  20. I think that people here need to do two things SHUT UP AND GROW UP!!!! The fact that I got halfway through this thread and there are underhanded insulting comments comletely devalues what has happened here. Please stay on topic, and if you have nothing new (or nice for that matter) to say then dont say anything at all! I for one will reserve judgement on the alleged victim, alleged attackers and alleged posters on this board until the dust settles and facts are straightened out!!!
  21. So we waited all this time for the conference to schedule some TV games so that begs the question...where is the TV schedule?
  22. I got the alcohol covered, we get along quite nicely. As for reading, why should I bother when I know that I have you guys to do it for me...my forte with Great Dane hoops is more focused on vulgar chants and mooning the Vermont bus right before the AE championship!!!!!
  23. Probably because Siena is last on the totem pole of priority at their "home" court in the Pepsi and the Pepsi staff would rather work during the day and take the night off so they force Siena to schedule it during the day!!!!!
  24. Could you imagine if we got a 7'+ young Yao Ming to come play at UA because of this trip?
