Field Hockey
haggyland replied to Dane4ever's topic in Fall Sports-Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Cross-Country, Field Hockey
Seriously. It is times like that when I take a pause and think "Damn, that's a pretty big jump in 15 years of D1." -
Recruits for T&F are listed: http://www.ualbanysports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=210273103&DB_OEM_ID=15800 Smaller class than usual, but some impressive times and/or distances. One thing I am surprised by is the lack of distance recruits...one total for both genders. How does a school with such a rich T&F tradition have such a difficult time getting distance runners? (Especially being in a good recruiting area for it.)

Last year's Final Four team released their list of 2015 recruits: http://www.ualbanysports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=210264791&DB_OEM_ID=15800 One German in the class; with the apparent loss of Pahila Arnold the team is now back to three. -

She could get fired for writing such a positive article. -
No good place to put this, but in my never-ending quest to find a memorable burger I stumbled upon a TU article with a mention of the Across the Street Pub. There is some very nice UA representation there: http://www.timesunion.com/best_of_2015/article/Best-of-the-Capital-Region-2015-Burgers-6397624.php#photo-6049924

Schedule released: http://www.ualbanysports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=210226593&DB_OEM_ID=15800 After last year's 9-0 drubbing of LCC they are no longer on the schedule. -

I was taking more issue with the lack of originality than with the show...I agree that fist-fighting a chicken is pretty funny... -

Classic...well, everything except for The Family Guy "Surfin Bird" (Bird is the Word) similarity. -
1) TJC might be quick in getting up court, but I don't see her having a quick release on a jump-shot. 2) I didn't really recall Julie expanding her range, and while she may have added more of a mid-range game, her 3-point numbers don't show a dramatic difference. Still, in her senior year she was 4-17 from 3-pt. range, which was an increase from one attempt in her junior year, so I concede that point! 3) Agreed about Heather. The Forster family seems committed to this university, and you have to appreciate the dedication they have exhibited so far. 4) While I agree Duke had great size, I think there is likely to be some difference between a 4-year ACC 6-footer and a two-year AE 6-footer, especially in terms of coordination and quickness. Here's to getting 5 in a row...good to see Coach Abe is sticking around!

I couldn't agree more that the team needs some shooters, but she is listed at 6'1", and a forward... Where are the 5'8"-5'9" shooting guards? She could play the 3, let the guards drive and kick to her. I guess I am just worried about her quickness. Other than Shereesa how many fast 6-footers does women's basketball (particularly at this level) produce?

Overtime, 10-10. A UAlbany lacrosse team is overdue to win one of these tight battles. -

Odd that I haven't seen "Accountant Bob" offering any quotes to the TImes Union. Then again, he may be offering them, but the Times Union might not be publishing them! -

I am not going to try to explain this (too much) to the less degenerative types, but there are gambling lines for the women's game today! Money Line: (Straight up, who wins.) UAlbany -110 (Bet $110 to win $100) UPenn -120 (Bet $120 to win $100, making UPenn a very slight (in gambling terms, the slightest, actually) favorite. Point spreads: (Only two that I could find.) UPenn -1.5: +155 UAlbany +1.5: -185 Over/Under (for combined number of goals scored): 18.5 If I could have gotten UAlbany with the -1.5 instead of the +1.5, I would have jumped on it! -

Morning...made! "Ultra Fan"! -
I sat in the old football bleachers for a couple of hours on Saturday after the men's lacrosse championship game, and I must say that although University Field did not provide a very good vantage point for football, it did for track and field. If I focused just hard enough I could still picture the gridiron action.

St. George, Utah is a really nice place to spend a weekend. I hope they get some extra time there. Zion! -

It looks like this could be the beginning of another UAlbany run of championships. They graduate one senior (who didn't tee off in the championships, and who I think graduated in the fall), and their only signed recruit for next year averaged a 76 last year in high school. With the overall MAAC (blech!) champion being a freshman from UA, that's one more program in good shape... In such good shape I won't even take a potshot at the status of the baseball program! -

LCC with the early troubles falling into 3rd place, 13 shots off the pace. Albany now in the lead by 12 strokes over second place Quinnipiac. Still a lot of golf to go. -
Hence the qualifier. UAlbany signed four four-year players in November 2013 and all of them are gone by April 2015.
-
And that officially closes the book on the November 2013 signing class. All four year players. All gone. NOT GREG STIRE SO STIRE WAS A MAY SIGNEE
