  1. Only time will tell with the Europeans. Remember, guys like Manu Ginobili, Mehmet Okur can be found in the 2nd round, and since teams can hold onto their rights while they still play in Europe, it isn't a bad investment for teams. Also, when the Europeans are 6-9 shooting guards they have more "upside" than someone like Jamar, who is a 6ft shooting guard. Thats just how it goes, even if the Euro guy might be unproven (sucks, but not a lot that can be done) I can understand the anguish. In 2005, when Coppenrath wasn't selected it was a bummer, especially when the Celtics had the 53rd p
  2. maybe they are trading one Iati for another...Jacob Iati is a 2008 kid I think. He did well at GymRat. "Jacob Iati (5-11 PG, The Blast): This young man should serve as the 2008 GymRat symbol – he is the epitome of what the term “GymRat” truly means. A long-range sniper who knocked down 12 treys in two games, Iati showed steely nerve by draining three free throws with two seconds left to force a second overtime in pool play. Sees the floor and is exceptionally quick, Iati is a tremendous competitor and someone who improves all around him with his relentless energy." http://www.gymratun
  3. For the bizzare same name coincidence file, Albany is recruiting a guy named Steve Alford. http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewprospect...mp;pr_key=56224
  4. Just to follow up, and prove I was right : http://www.uvm.edu/~sportspr/?Page=News&storyID=10379 Must suck getting shafted by two AE coaches...
  5. A lot of half truths and bad facts in that article. Unless something ridiculous happens, he will be coaching UVM next season.
  6. Nobody on campus besides their friends like those guys. I'm real embarrassed to be in that video. They didn't show the part where I told him to f*ck off after he questioned me being a good fan. Guy goes to probably 2 home games a year to do stupid stuff when I have only missed one or two in 2 1/2 years. Like I said before, those guys are not allowed to interview players or coaches on the basis that they are idiots. Really, if it wasnt for his "commentary" its a decent video. Make fun of him all you want, most people at UVM do too and think he is an idiot... http://www.youtube.com/prof
  7. He would be one of the guys who runs UVMtv, the campus TV station. Him and this other guy are huge morons. They really don't know how to make a good informative broadcast, instead most of the time him and the president of the station just try and make fun of their own fans. Which is completely stupid. I know that they are not allowed to interview coaches or players because of the nature of their comments and how they go about trying to make these "game stories". They were at the championship game this season and of course, I had my afro wig on and they came and asked me if it was my real hair.
  8. Don't worry about it...the same exact $iena comes up in Burlington too. Most professors and those in academia are bitter about the same types of things. I had one professor, who was talking about the localization of cable television in the area to counter, then Adelphia (now Comcast) and then went on to complain that UVM wouldn't use the new local cable because the hockey and basketball teams were on CN8 and NESN, because they would stand to LOSE money if they did. He acted as if he wanted the university to lose revenue from TV games. We don't even get the CN8 channel on campus anyway, so the
  9. I think that comes to the suprise of many when they actually come to Patrick Gym. What I find is, on the road, or a nuetral place, like the conference tourney, Vermont fans are louder and have more fun as well. Its because when you go into a place like Albany as we did this season, its "us against you", and everyone gets the "we gotta stick together" mentality. At home...well, everyone is a Vermont fan, so it isn't as important. I'm sure that with anyone from Albany who made the trek to Burlington felt the same way as an opponent in a "hostile environment". The people who go to the games and t
  10. Congrats on the win. If you know anything about Vermont fans, they are a bunch of senior citizens who just sit on their ass the whole time. Students went away on break...but it isnt like they cared about the season anyway. The loyal students who went to every home game where the ones who showed up at 6am to get tickets, but that is maybe only 50 people. The fact that at 3:30 on the day they put student tickets on sale, one of my suitemates was able to go get one is pretty lame. The student section stood for the whole game, I honestly think we put our best effort forth in trying to get loud, bu
  11. Lonergan actually really likes Vermont and the area, and he might actually want to stay in Vermont for a while. So your friends may not know the whole story. UVM gave him an opportunity to be a head coach at the Division I level, while some of the mid-atlantic schools where he is from stiffed him when he was winning at Catholic U. (read: Loyola-MD and Towson. I don't think he minds not getting the Loyola job since he and Pastos are friends, but you get the idea, there was another D1 school that didn't hire him either from that region, I can't think of it right now though). He is in a similar s

  13. If the "Tuba guy" is named Anthony, he and I have been friends since we were 3 years old. Nice to see he is as famous at basketball games as I am at Patrick Gym. That is pretty cool. He and I have already started trash talk for the UVM-Albany rematch!
  14. You have no idea...the first game back for students on break was Maine, and suprisingly, a lot of students showed up. Unfortunately they all acted like they were 60 too. they couldnt even muster up a DEFENSE chant. Most of them have NO IDEA what to do. It won't suprise me if about half the number that was there shows up for the next home game, because we lost (students only go when we win btw...example, last years' hockey team faltered down the stretch after a hot start, and less students went. They still sold the games out, we've sold out 52 in a row, but that is because the general public gr
  15. Just to let you know, the guy who runs the board, Preston, knows nothing about the league in general. Some of you on the AE board might know him as "GoCats2001". He is a good guy, he just doesn't want to give respect to the rest of the teams in the league and easily gets riled up about silly stuff. Definition of "extreme homerism". Now, as a Vermont guy, I didn't really like what Brown had to say, I felt like he should have just been over the scheduling thing, and it seemed whiney to me. But I don't want to beat a dead horse issue. I've got a ton of respect for the guy as a coach, because he i
