  5. We have also received a commitment from WR Zee Roberson out of PA and Jamal Robinson out of MD at DeMatha which currently has 7 players listed as committed to FBS schools and 2 more listed as committed to FCS schools not including Jamal. http://247sports.com/Player/Zee-Roberson-31790?Institution=19329 http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Jamal-Robinson-140613
  6. Also have an offers out to Turner Echols (DE), Zee Roberson (WR), and Steve Shanley (QB) as per thier twitter accounts.
  7. Looks like we just nabbed a pretty good LB out of MD from Good Counsel. Its confirmed via Good Counsel's twitter feed and updated in rivals. Although ESPN has not yet confirmed the signing as they give little to no attention to FCS, they do rank him pretty well as the #17 player in the state and #71 ranked LB. https://twitter.com/GC_SportsNation http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-DaSharnte-Thompson-141057 http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/news/_/id/188313/dasharnte-thompson
  8. Yeah the fact that he is somewhat undersized may have cooled some of the interest these larger programs may have had. Again, he may be the highest rated recruit we've been able to attract at least as far as I can remember.
  9. Anyone have any word on Jojo McClary. He appears to be pretty highly rated on both ESPN (#66 cornerback in the nation) and Rivals with offers from highly reputable schools.
  10. http://bigpurplefans.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=6843 Wow, completely missed that. My mistake.
  11. I apologize if this has been discussed before, but who is this Gibson everyone keeps referring to as part of the recruiting class?
  12. I can see him being a good slot receiver for the program. He shows good hands and good quickness off the line.
  13. Looks like Jordan Canzeri committed to Villanova after his visit earlier in the week. http://www.hawkeyenation.com/forum/recruiting/24023-jordan-canzeri.html
  14. Worth a shot. Thanks though for keeping us all updated.
  15. Is it possible to get any insight regarding this new recruit?
  16. Looks like we have confirmation on our signed recruit.... http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Russell-Moore-112089#college_choices Any info on him?
  17. Bosiydid, they have been selling kids on a new stadium for quite some years now. But look on the bright side, ground is supposedly going to be broken this Spring. Also, in the rumor mill, the Giants are back, who are helping us with the stadium. I used to work for the alumni association at a part-time job back in '04-'05, basically I would contact alumni and try to solicit donations from them for the University, and even then we were already using the new football stadium as a selling pitch to the alumni. I even remember receiving some fairly large donations which were meant to be used towards the construction/development of the stadium. I'm wondering now where all that money actually went. i Who's to say they don't have it set aside? Ha....I'm sure they have it sitting in a safe in the athletic department.

  19. I haven't even really looked at any of their stats mainly for the reasons you mentioned. Level of competition, type of schemes, or even the USC effect (you have great stats because the team around you is great) can all play a huge roll. My excitement for Fiacchi is solely based on his videos. In the video which was previously linked, I saw him make at least 4 or 5 perfect over the shoulder throws which basically could not be defended by the DB, and these throws were 20+ yard plays. I also saw him make a few back shoulder throws when the WR was covered which could only be caught by the WR. I understand the transition from high school to college is a very difficult one, and many great high school players never amount to much in college. I just see in Fiacchi, our first real chance to develop a real pocket quarterback which will not allow defenses to play 8 men in the box against us. It should also be noted that Fiacchi much like Romain also received some D-1 attention, most notably Temple, Syracuse, UConn, URI, and UMass.
  20. Hello all, I've been reading this blog for a few months now and following Albany sports since I was enrolled there as a freshman in 2003. After looking over this signing class and looking at the video's, I think this may be the best class we've had since the move into D-1. Granted my knowledge of is somewhat limited versus some of the school's more senior supporters, I feel this class has the potential to continue our dominance of the NEC and (hopefully) lead us to the CAA or the emergence of a conference similar to the Yankee Conference. Obviously the top 2 recruits of this class appear to Will Fiacchi and Dillon Romain, but one of the players who really jumped out at me was DT Tim Kologrivov. After watching his video, I saw a defensive lineman who gets a great jump on the snap, and always seems to find his way into the offenses backfield, be it by over-powering the offensive lineman or by using his quickness to get off the snap so much quicker then the other players. Jake Dwyer also looked like an interesting prospect, great speed and pursuit of the ball carrier.
