  1. Coming off of an injury, there might be a reason why her minutes are lower. She played a LOT of minutes early in the season, and it did not go quite as well, led to injury etc. She is only a freshman, and a small one at that. I'd rather her play fewer minutes, but effective minutes, than having her out on the floor for 33 minutes a game but not being as effective.
  2. While it has definitely taken a bit of time for the team to gel and put together some wins, it is nice to see a good streak. Of all their games that went to overtime that they lost, their record could have looked a lot better at this point in the season.
  3. This is such a bummer. She is an incredible talent, and the things she can do with the basketball are crazy. Hopefully she has a quick and full recovery.
  4. I will be in attendance, should be a good one. Hope you didn't pay much for your ticket Yeah, that was a tough one. Couldn't get anything going on offense. Still glad to make it out to the game, always nice when the team plays in the city.
  5. I will be in attendance, should be a good one.
  6. Losing Z definitely hurts, but UA has a serious baller in Trpcic. She isn't much of a shooter right now but she showed a lot of confidence distributing the ball in this game, and she has high level quickness and court vision...look for her to put on a good show against LCC. With that said, Stokes still looks uncomfortable and lost out there and she is making way too many simple mistakes to justify increased minutes. Developing her as a viable back-up option is going to be a larger lift than developing Trpcic as a reliable ball distributor. This, 100%. Was at the game last night. Trpcic looks really good. Yes, she'll make freshman mistakes, but as the game went along she seemed to learn from them. Made an awesome behind-the-back pass to Tate in the 2nd quarter that way above her grade but led to an easy basket. She lost some confidence in her shot later in the game, which will grow with time. But for a freshman point guard who plays almost the entire game, she did a damn good job. Stokes on the other hand, looks lost. She probably needs to muscle up a bit and be more aggressive on the defensive end. Still don't understand why they didn't foul up 3. They had one to give before Fordham even got into the bonus! Nevertheless, it was an excellent basketball game between two pretty good teams. Looking forward to seeing them up in Albany on Sunday, then back at St. John's next Wednesday.
  7. Always said if I ever came into a boatload of money I would build a hockey-specific arena for the school. We can dream about DI hockey one day, right?
  8. looks like she followed Coach Abe http://ucfknights.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5398 Ah, well best of luck to her down there. Glad we didn't lose more of the team down to sunny Florida.
  9. Since the school finally posted the roster for the upcoming season, I think it is about time that the women's team has its thread to start the season. Notably, as was rumored when she was absent from a team picture earlier this summer, Zakiya Saunders is no long listed on the roster, and I have not seen her pop up as a transfer elsewhere. Possibly an early graduation? Elsewhere, they have three of Coach Abe's recruits in Alexi Schecter © and Khepera Stokes (G) on the roster and Mackenzie Trpcic (G), which shows that the program on its own has enough clout that even when the coach who builds it leaves, the recruits (aside from the uber-talented Kaela Hilare) stay. They have added Kumsal Aslan from Turkey, a 5'8" guard, and Chyanna Canada, a 6'2" forward who originally committed to Temple but left after one semester last fall. I would imagine that she will be redshirting this year. Big question for this year's team is who takes over at the 1 with Saunders leaving. Otherwise, your roster would probably shake out like this: 1. Freshman PG 2. Tate 3. Edwards 4. Forster 5. Carter I can see Bailey Hixson getting some more playing time for her perimeter shot, but have no idea what to expect from any of the other freshmen, aside from that Schecter is 6'3". Looking forward to the season to start! http://www.ualbanysports.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=15800&SPID=8000&SPSID=70296&KEY=&Q_SEASON=2016
  10. That's awesome, I'll be there in full voice. Been waiting to have a game against St. Johns, men or women!
  11. Latest from WHOOPDIRT.COM ------------------------------------------- GW Update: Round 3 14 Apr 2016 This has been one of the crazier searches that I have covered in a long time! I can now confirm that George Washington has settled on their replacement for Jonathan Tsipsis and the announcement is expected either later tonight or tomorrow morning. The choice is a current DI head coach whose candidacy came out of nowhere! More on this when it’s made official. different source on twitter says its ............... Jen Rizzotti - to GW - wow That actually makes a lot of sense... And the Hartford Courant is carrying this story ...http://www.courant.com/sports/college/jc-jennifer-rizzotti-geoge-washington-0415-20160414-story.html Well, I did yell out at the Hartford UAlbany game to their bench "Coach Rizzotti is a has-been". Maybe she took it to heart to move on. that's hurtful! haha, it was great. Happened while the whole arena was quiet too. She is a good coach, who just got completely out-recruited, out-trained, and out-coached by Coach Abe. She'll probably be successful at GW, but damn was it good to completely dominate Hartford the last number of years.

  13. I'll be making the trip back up. Well deserved seeding, and while they won't get to travel the country as in year's past, I am sure they are happy to be playing close to their fanbase and not playing a true road game. LET'S GO DANES! MAKE THE CARRIER DOME SEFCU WEST!!!!!!!
  14. A little late, but some reflections on Friday's game: WOW. Shereesha put on a show and was not going to let the game get away. Saunders was a bit off from the field, but I came away very impressed from the effort put in by Bose and Cassandra. Bose had a huge offensive rebound that led to free throws early on (which she made 1 for her only point of the afternoon), but more importantly, it was the first show of fight on the day from an unlikely source. Edwards played serious minutes, playing the first half with most of her left hand in a cast, but came out at halftime without it. Although she missed the FT's at the end which could have been critical, she grinded out a good game, setting countless screens, and playing good defense. Bravo! Can't wait to find out where they will be playing!
  15. The good: Shereesha put up 41 last night in yet another dominant effort. The bad: According to the teams roster, Lavergene and Keane are no longer listed, which means that 3/4 of this year's freshmen class has left the team (only Heather Forster remains)
  16. Was down at Stony Brook last night, the team played pretty well in a much tighter game than when these two teams last met. Reese was in foul trouble, played the fourth quarter with 4 fouls and didn't foul out, still picked up 20 points. Interesting note, the New York Liberty had some staff at the game scouting her, including WNBA and USA Basketball legend Teresa Witherspoon. Nice section of Great Danes support, including Lindsey Lowrie who was in attendance.
  17. They took down the link. What a bunch of hacks LOL. This was the article http://www.nycbuckets.com/2016/02/coaches-weigh-in-who-matches-up-best-with-stony-brook/ To be honest though, without One Bid Wonders, that's the only blog that is covering the conference on a consistent basis. Obviously there are the papers that follow the individual schools, but nycbuckets is the only blog that takes a look at the whole conference.
  18. Tough to see Edwards go down with a broken hand. Likely means more minutes for Forster/Lavergne, although Hixson has seen some minutes in recent blowouts, so she might see an uptick as well.
  19. Not only does the women's team play at a fast pace, they do so quite controlled, and they also play a ton of minutes. It is not a surprise when you look at the box score and see that Zakiya Saunders played all 40 minutes. They are a fun team to watch, and they have been for quite some time. As it was written earlier in the year, get to a game in person now to see Shereesha Richards play, because UAlbany may not ever see another talent like her's again. We were fortunate enough to have Lyle and Miles, she is that good for her level, and has a good chance of taking it to the next level.
  20. Well, Saunders put up 14 assists last night. Breaks Sarah's single-season record, and ties an America East single-game record
  21. I will also say that I sat right next to the SBU student section, specifically their baseball team. They are a bit fed up with Hooley single-handedly ending their seasons. Nothing made them happier than him bricking that last shot. I legitimately thought they were going to storm the court, which would have been cute.
  22. Stire had a tough game. The foul that led to a 5-point swing when we were up 6 was killer. Also, have to get that dunk down quicker, can't let it get blocked. Hopefully just a bump in the road during an otherwise pretty good season.
  23. Zach Bye said on the broadcast that she played from 79-83. Quite a long-standing record. Also impressive to break it being a post play and not relying on shooting exclusively 3's.
  24. That was one of their most dominant games I have seen. Also, the game was over by 8:30. Extremely fast game. That's what will happen when Tate can spot up and drain her jumper just about every time. I'm happy to see Shereesha take more 3's, especially in a blowout, but as she looks to go pro, she will definitely have to speed up her release. The shot can be a bit predictable once you recognize the possibility that she might take it.
  25. Anyone else going to be there tonight? I'll be at the alumni event and game, thankfully the snow will be coming later.
