  1. Yep... They have resources we don't have... Training facilities etc. Let's hope for another failed hire... There is a strong rumor he's fired Tuesday, day after maac tourney ends. Their training facilities are that much better? For what, basketball? I have no clue so would like some more details if you can/want to elaborate.
  2. Very early, trying not to go overboard, but this TEAM looks really, really good.
  3. Highlights from Syracuse Twitter, but still some sweet Albany goals. https://mobile.twitter.com/CuseMLAX/status/964982278165168128/video/1
  4. I think I am a jinx. I don't catch many games, but it seems like every time I do they don't impress me at all.

  6. I didn't get to watch, but lack of assists has to be a little concerning. Box score I saw was only 6 total. I get Nichols is a scorer, but 0 assists?
  7. Not sure where to put this since its kind of random, but I was reading an article on Notre Dame's new defensive coordinator Mike Elko and came across this comment: After finishing college at Penn, where he played safety, Elko started his career at Stony Brook, which he calls one of two true destinations (Albany is the other) for aspiring East Coast coaches who want to get their feet wet. His title read graduate assistant. In reality, he coached the linebackers. http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/21157210/notre-dame-defensive-coordinator-mike-elko-deserves-credit-fighting-irish-turnaround
  8. Joe, welcome to the board. Did you by chance notice how Patterson was used in the scrimmages? Was he just back-up attack or did he see any playing time at middie? Was wondering if they might try a position switch to get him on the field more as he won't see much time at attack barring injuries. Maybe replace some of the scoring they lost at that position with Drake and Osika graduating?
  9. Couple more scrimmages on 10/15 October 15 (at Boys’ Latin) Johns Hopkins will host a four-team event on Sunday, October 15 at Boys’ Latin in Baltimore. The event will support the HEADStrong Foundation. 12 pm – Johns Hopkins vs. Army 12 pm – Albany vs. Richmond 2:30 pm – Johns Hopkins vs. Albany 2:30 pm – Army vs. Richmond
  10. High praise for the Danes from a Cuse fan at the scrimmages! http://network.laxpower.com/laxforum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63167&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=100 No Cuse in the Dome today but them Albany boys sure showed up. Geezuz H, that's quite a team, just a whole lot of fun to watch them play. You Albany folks must be just fired up crazy waiting for lax season to roll around. You'd be hard pressed to find any weaknesses anywhere with the way they played today, Mr Marr's got himself a mighty talented group of boys who like to run and play and he lets 'em. Nanticoke played sparingly, played the first half v Isreal and that was it. Gotta wonder if Marr didn't want to reveal too much to JD and let him get a good look at him. He played somewhat reserved which is not at all to suggest that he was anything less than impressive. Threw a couple of sweet assists by drawing and tossing, scored at least one, is sneaky, pesky with the GK after a save. As good as advertised, was hoping to see more of him. Good luck stopping this Albany team...Fields, just outstanding, Reh, just outstanding, Nanticoke, just outstanding, middies, just outstanding, D, just outstanding, GK looked good, several sweet outlet passes which led to those fast breaks. This unit works together beautifully, unselfishly, skillfully, and at mach speed. Albany's play looks like kids playing mostly from instincts and great vision. Everyone on the Albany team is in constant movement and if you leave one open a pass will be coming. There were several plays where the ball just zipped around and ultimately ended up with the open guy who was in the right spot. Israel opened up by winning the first two face offs and making it two-zip. The Dogs won the next one and went on a seven goal tear. Think the FOGO's name is Lerland, he just started picking it up like he was out there by himself and Albany started firing like the cage was a target at the shooting range. Those Albany boys are rough, too, not at all shy about contact. Both games seemed to be a little rougher than what we've become used to, the refs absolutely let them play. It didn't matter who was on the field for Albany, the team looked pretty much the same. Seems as if they've got 22 5'10"-6' 165-175 pounders who all came out of the same mold and every one of them is quick and has a good stick. Whether them Big Dogs win the face off, come up with a save, or cause a TO, they're coming at you in a full gallop, guns blazing. The thought, shot clock would never enter your mind when watching these guys. Albany handled the Iroquois Nation quite handily too for all the same reasons. I doubt I'm on the money with the scores, think the first one was 13-3 and the second one, 18-6.
  11. I'm plan on going to the Albany-Iona game. My cousin went to Iona so we are planning on taking our families to the game and then staying overnight since we are a couple hours away. Want to do something with the kids on Saturday while we are up there before heading home. Anybody have suggestions on something to do in the area for kids ages 4-8? Looks like the football team is on the road so unfortunately that is not an option.
  12. I was reading this article about power five schools overall athletic success and learned that there was something called the Learfield Directors Cup standings. https://sports.yahoo.com/ranking-every-power-five-school-overall-athletic-success-201918295.html Decided to take a look and see how Albany stacked up and they came in at a very solid #89 overall Siena doesn't even make the list as points are only given to institutions advancing to the NCAA championship in any of the 20 sports represented http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/nacda/sports/directorscup/auto_pdf/2016-17/misc_non_event/D1final2017.pdf
  13. We got a home game against UNC! One goal losses to Cuse and Maryland reg season. This is the chance to prove they dont just compete with the big dogs, but can beat them. LET'S GO!
  14. So based on the NCAA committee rankings we want Notre Dame to beat Duke in the first round of the ACC tourney? Regardless of the outcome of the UMBC/Vermont game I think we play the loser of Bing/Stony in the first round of the AE tourney since UMBC beat them both and one of them will end up 3-3 in conference, correct? One thing I just noticed today is that Syracuse is 8-1 in one goal games this year! That is ridiculous to not only have that many one goal games, but to end up on the winning end of almost 90% of them.
  15. Don't want to get ahead of ourselves, but a first round home game would be amazing. Even if they got Cuse in the next round at least it would be on a neutral field and not in the Dome. Probably at Hofstra I would think. Again, understand there is a long way to go, but we should dream big, right?
  16. Any box for this game? Didn't catch it soon enough, how did he do? https://twitter.com/AdamZagoria/status/847509988285100037 looked good Box looks fairly pedestrian... I like 3-6 from 3pt and 4 ast to 0 to's. We need a real pg. Nichols is not a pg.
  17. 2014 game against Notre Dame, 5 goal lead with about 10 to go and they lost pretty much every face off the rest of the game...and lost in OT. I was at that game and it was so hard to watch the Thompsons stand around towards the end because they couldn't get posession. Though they did have the last shot in reg from cousin Ty and it glanced off the goalies helment. Yes, I'm still bitter if you can't tell, but wholeheartedly agree about how face offs could have put that team over the top. Oh well.
  18. Nichols 6-25 Rest of team 15-28 Hero ball has to change next year.
  19. Is the AE ever going to try and improve the Champ game time slot? 11a on Saturday morning sucks. MAAC has their prime time game tonight as usual. Maybe not the right time to bring this up, but the status quo of the AE pisses me off.
  20. Is Vermont really going to go undefeated in conference? We will see. Great job all around and a gutsy win.
  21. Thanks for keeping this thread active. I would have forgotten to do it again today until I saw your posts.
  22. Albany with the 17-8 victory. TD - 20/28 on Face-off's today, think that puts him at around 59% for the season after struggling in the Cuse game (28%) 70+ win % vs. both Drexel and UMass JD with only 8 goals and 13 saves Drake with 5 goals Fileds with 3 goals and 4 assist. 5 TO's is a little concerning and may have to do with him being the primary facilitator all the time. http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=164637
  23. Not to be a downer, but per the box score Dallas played 21 minutes and contributed nothing stats wise? No points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals. No turnovers or fouls either so I guess that is a positive. That just stood out as being really odd to me.
  24. I think it's always at Cuse because of the weather in February which is where this game seems to always be scheduled. I mean they have away games at St. John's and Hobart this year so why would they play there and not Albany?
