  1. "* And last but not least, a shoutout to us over here at the TU: From September through this past May, the Times Union ran 323 stories related to Siena athletics. According to Siena, 133 of those stories appeared on the front page." http://blogs.timesunion.com/collegesports/?p=947#comments ..in case anyone missed that

  3. I know they will eventually be changing all the pages but started with any pages that were directly linked off of the homepage. I really like the new layout.
  4. My comment was a general comment in regards the trend of comments on many things. I don't pretend to know the capabilities of UA having their own professional law school, or the politics behind it. But I do know that just because UA doesn't have one right now, doesn't mean people at UA aren't working on trying to do something about it, ie...taking this step forward. Again, was more of a general comment and not specific to this topic.
  5. It was also more of a general comment that it seems from ALT_Dane's posts and others that nothing is ever good enough... there is a difference between complaining (which I don't think is tough love) and discussing logical (one's that actually can happen with the lack of $ and laws a public school has to abide by) possible ways to better a public institution. It seems like sometimes people forget it is a SUNY and not a private school. The things a SUNY can do will be limited because it is public and uses public funds in a state that is in very difficult financial situtation. If you wanted to be an Alumni from a school that can do whatever they want, build whatever they want etc, than those ppl shouldn't have gone to a SUNY. Yes, compare UA to other SUNYs and some SUNYs have things we don't.... but UA isn't the center of SUNY even if you think it should be. I am pro-SUNY and UA but I am also logical and do understand their limitations, and see no point in constantly bashing them (generally) or specifically UA when they actually try to better their institution.
  6. I wrote a TU letter to the editor a month or so ago that made it to print in support of a UAlbany and Albany Law partnership, as opposed to starting new SUNY law schools at SBU and BU. I knew that Albany Law would fight UAlbany starting their own law school so this was the next best alternative. This MBA/JD agreement is a nice step forward. I congratulate the administration but I'm hoping for a larger partnership in the years to come... like acquiring Albany Law. Currently, Albany Law has a number of MBA partnerships with area colleges: UA, Union and St Rose. Keeping up with UB and SBU will require more than a joint degree program. Why does every UA accomplishment end up with a 'that's not good enough reaction' ?

  8. I didn't want to start a whole new thread on this, so I thought it kinda fits here: Siena's athletes scoring high "* And last but not least, a shoutout to us over here at the TU: From September through this past May, the Times Union ran 323 stories related to Siena athletics. According to Siena, 133 of those stories appeared on the front page." http://blogs.timesunion.com/collegesports/?p=947
  9. exactly... I think only people who have access to UA's financial records can tell you how much money is involved, and how much money is exactly needed. Right now the last thing any state agency included SUNY is going to do, is find extra ways to spend money, even if it is to make money. They just want to maintain what they at least have right now.
  10. UA's Facebook Fan Page added a video of the new plaza. I don't believe you have to log into/have an account to view the video. Try just clicking the link. The University at Albany welcomed back students, faculty and staff with the dedication of a new $4 million Grand Entry Plaza, designed as a vibrant, central gathering space for visitors and the campus community. The three-acre plaza serves as an inviting gateway to the campus, featuring a park-like setting with expanded green space, ornamental trees and bench seating with Wi-Fi. The main focal point of the new plaza is a spectacular walk-through fountain. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1046310836312

  19. Sorry, College Football: I'm Just Not That Into You http://bleacherreport.com/articles/47656-s...t-that-into-you UA mentioned from Alumni who wrote the article/blog it talks about all of our sports not just football which is in the title of the link, so I thought I would post it here. FYI it isn't a positive article...thought the last person to comment on it seemed to be pro-albany

  23. WB blog: 06.30.08: I was pleased to hear that we won the America East Conference academic title for men’s basketball this year. This is the 2nd season in a row. I am very proud of the student-athletes in our program. They are getting it done on the court and in the class room. Our new guy’s have adjusted quickly. They are all doing well in the class room and working hard in the weight room. Our strength and conditioning coach Justin Goulet has done a great job challenging our team on a daily basis. I am all about results and Justin is getting results. Our guy’s overall strength is increasing and we are seeing a decrease in overall body fat. This team will have the potential to play faster offensively and be more aggressive defensively. I have been impressed with the overall mentality of the group. They work very hard and they just want to get better. I was in Orlando last week for a few days attending the America East Conference coaches and athletic directors meetings. It was a productive few days. We are getting ready for the busy July recruiting period. As of now we will have three scholarships available for the 2009 recruiting class. The staff is doing a great job of recruiting student-athletes that fit the university profile. We will continue to work hard and not take short cuts on the recruiting trail. We are going to recruit QUALITY people who want to be successful on the court and in the class room. We have great kids in our program and that is never going to change! We are having our first annual Men’s Basketball “SLAM DUNK” Golf Classic at Colonie Country Club on Monday September 8th. I am confident that the event will sell out (144 golfers, 36 foursomes).
