  1. Hi folks. There has been a drought of info on basketball recruiting lately.. Please help this long time lurker with info on the recent recruits... like Forward J. Doles. Thanks & stay safe
  2. An amazing ode to lives well lived. Have you thought of introducing geocaching to Wren? Thanks for the inspiration (and for bringing the outdoor joys to a mainly in-door guy.) Cheers!
  3. Per News Channel 13: Jamion Christian has been named new Siena's Men's basketball coach. He just completed his 6th year as the head coach of Mount St. Mary's in the Northeast Conference. Presser to take place on Friday, time- TBD
  4. I watched the game on America East TV ... and Charlie & Justin were outstanding. Accurate, timely, peppered with some inside info.... A little bit of teaching for some of us that don't really know what to expect of a 10 man ride... and with great humor... with out some of the sappiness we hear from other schools home announcers (Like Maine!!!) Wonderful guys doing a great job.
  5. UAlbany vs. Cornell game moved to Sunday @ 1:00 pm @ Casey Stadium Due to weather conditions
  6. We used to love taking our sons to Indian Ladder Farms when they were young..... Lots to do besides picking apples and hiking these days. Take a peek at this link: http://www.indianladderfarms.com/ https://www.yelp.com/biz/indian-ladder-farms-Voorheesville Enjoy and travel safety
  7. According to Google ... American, United, Jet Blue, & Southwest all fly Albany (ALB) to Portland (PWM)... seats run from ~ $4400 - $ 600 each ;-)
  8. In every way .. It's just that they are UAlbany's finest and not the crew that we see at Troop G
  9. Couple of quick items... Those ESPN3 announcers are our guys. Roger does all our home ESPN3 games ... and those troopers that are seen in the SEFCU are University Police officers ...they just look like the NYSP
  10. Ahhh.. Remembering the Core 4 and more who all passed through here. I was one of the lucky ones to be in the house the night Ron Guidry came to Heritage Park as part of his rehab. That was the game when they roped off about the last 15 ft. of the outfield to allow standing room attendees in to see the game. And there was never a better spot to watch the Patroons and the very young Phil Jackson than the Armory.
  11. Hmmm What is it with this whine about parking cost? What do the parking garages around the T-U cost? I seem to remember dropping a $10 spot when I parked there...... (And had to schlep drums in from there for several of the 1st years. ) A rewarding night to be a Great Dane fan!
  12. You mean other than Tiana-Jo Carter? 39 this past year!
  13. Latest from WHOOPDIRT.COM ------------------------------------------- GW Update: Round 3 14 Apr 2016 This has been one of the crazier searches that I have covered in a long time! I can now confirm that George Washington has settled on their replacement for Jonathan Tsipsis and the announcement is expected either later tonight or tomorrow morning. The choice is a current DI head coach whose candidacy came out of nowhere! More on this when it’s made official. different source on twitter says its ............... Jen Rizzotti - to GW - wow That actually makes a lot of sense... And the Hartford Courant is carrying this story ...http://www.courant.com/sports/college/jc-jennifer-rizzotti-geoge-washington-0415-20160414-story.html
  14. OK I just have to do this ... here's comes the idiom police. The idiom is Bugaboo which is a legendary scary creature, see bogeyman Just wanted to elucidate - not correct The other idiom that bugs me is a mis-translation that is showing up quite a bit lately... "Nip it in the Butt" which really began as "Nip it in the bud"... a biological process to stop a bud early on in its development (essentially to force stronger blooms elsewhere.) Nip it in the butt is something my old dog dreams about I think. Sorry ... Now back to enjoying another great LAX season. Go Danes
  15. Ryan Restivo retweeting that Vegas 16 will emerge as the Vegas 8 when announced
  16. Oooo Good point on the strength of schedule ... Go Lady Saints!!!!
  17. So.... If I understand the tie-breakers and the seeding for the AE Women's tourney, and if The Lady Danes & Maine win out thru the last weekend and at the 2 Bing tourney rounds, the Lady Danes would host the Sebago Lake Sows at the SEFCU? Did I get that right?
  18. Oh, Indeed, the Lady Danes won last night .. by 6 points... They gritted through a very cold shooting night, I wish the Catamount faithful, whining about the zebras elsewhere, were at the SEFCU to see that officiating... .. 2 of the Bearcats fouled out with a third having 4 fouls... Shereesha and Tiana - Jo each tight-roped the 4th quarter w/ 4 fouls each. I felt sorry for Foot Locker last night... they must have been down at least 2 sales personnel somewhere. I have to say that I think that the Bearcats coach, Linda Cimino, has done a remarkable job rebuilding that team. They played tough and gritty - but the Lady Danes were just that much more in each category. The Bearcats came into the game at 5 - 5 and played tougher than even Maine did. I got the impression that Cimino has used the Lady Danes as her target to get back to the top. Maybe she can key in on the Maine gals for the rest of the year??? Come to the games... They are amazing... and the Lady Danes are soooo worth supporting.
  19. I'd be interested in Firestick info as well... Thanks
  20. From my vantage point with the band, and right next to the UMBC bench, I noticed that 2 of their bigs were getting attention to their backs throughout the game... Not sure how good their front court is when well, but I don't think we saw them at their best.
  21. So we'd have to change it to "Hey you.... We're A U" ????? hahahahahahaha
  22. A quick note about the "convivial" hosting of the band. For the women's game, the Siena folks never allowed the band to play during the 2nd half of the women's game. It is customary for a back & forth mode to be in place when there is a visiting band present.... certainly there is a script made that includes the cheer & dance teams and the bands. This script was thrown out the window with regard to the playing times for the UAlbany Pep Band. The band played once in the last 4 minutes of the Lady Danes game and that was after one of the on-court promotions... and was done unilaterally by the UAlbany band. Same thing happened during the men's game last year. We are simply a guest of Siena. So it underscores the construct of the game "for the community". Presently, it is played on Siena's court, with Siena's regular seating, with the MAC's referees, and at the pleasure of the Siena producers. I was pleased to see that the security detail was diminished this year in the UAlbany section. For the 1st 8 years or so, there customarily were 5 - 8 security personnel assigned to manage the UAlbany student section and never more than 3 - 5 to manage "gang green" at the opposite end. This series was never constructed to be anything but a chance for Siena to play a home game - with all its perks. The new team on the block had to buy into that back then. We are not that new team on the block any more. Maybe after the current agreement lapses, we can invite the underperforming local cousin to have a chance to play the superior program in their arena - as a chance to improve their exposure ... as they once did for us.
