  1. I have a plane ticket - help me out, what about game tickets. I see them on Stub Hub for $75. Any alumni tickets?
  2. Great Day. Thought I had a thrombo Now - Lets make it a Double Dane Day this evening
  3. Congratulations. I too, am happy to eat some crow. Well done.
  4. When I applied to Siena and they asked for my perspective on pedophilia, was that wrong?
  5. Not having lived in Albany for many years, I've enjoyed watching many UA games via new technology. In recent years, though, I admit to having lost some interest. On Sunday I was in an airport and watched most of the UA-SB game on my laptop. I've become so cynical that the blown 10 point lead was very expected and all too familiar. Had I never moved away, I'm sure I'd have attended hundreds of games, but I'm not sure my own enthusiasm would not have waned some by now.The disappointments, game after game, would have worn me down. I suppose students can find more exciting things to do.
  6. This year Coach Brown had me fooled somewhat. A few weeks ago I was ready to concede I'd been mistaken about him. Having watched both the BU and Vermont games on line, I'm backing to my original thinking. I think the players like him, but I do not think he is a winner, not will he ever be at UA.
  7. That's the title of a thread on the Siena board this morning - fire the coach and boycott games in the TUC - the siena fan's immediate response to getting a good mounting last night. What a great Sunday morning.
  8. In this deal, UA has to win the game decisively for three or four consecutive years. Last year's loss did so much damage. We have to make their fans get up to leave with 10 minutes left in the game then plant our flag in the seats they left behind. They need to be humiliated over several years - then we'll hold the cards and decide exactly if, when, and where its in our best interest to schedule them. For now, they laugh at us.
  9. Yeah, I would like him to say something like that. Maybe substitue 'father' for 'mother'. Doc might not have said it - but I always knew he was thinking it. Anyway, I'm not flying up there for this game anymore. We need a new agreement. Nobody puts Kingdane in a corner.
  10. After the pain of last year's game I decided to take a year off. I check scores and summaries and have enjoyed it so far. Very excited. If we go to the tournament - I'll be there. As long as our coach tells the paper saying 'this is just another game' I can't respect him. They make us play in their arena, they make us sit in the corners with Stevie Wonder site lines, we have to look at their turdy signs and logos and the logos of their McRivals, they stole our dog mascot out of papal guilt over the whole Indian boys/syphillis scandal, their fat old Albany fans with their fat old wives sit at mid-court with nothing but disdain for UA and see us all as public university socialists, and then we go out an blow 19 point leads to them. And Coach Brown says...its a great rivalry but really its just another game. I want to be the assistant bench coach next year just for this game. Please start a campaign to give me that honor as my years wane.
  11. Is there a published point spread for this game?
  12. I absolutely agree. I was just caught up in the moment and they were walking by. I totally regret it. Rebounding was the difference maker. Too many times there was no one boxing out and the boards were easy for SBU. I wonder how long it will take to get over this one. Took awhile after the football loss. I was grateful for the opportunity to watch both games on line. Very proud of the UA effort though obviously disappointed by the abrupt ending. Another, 'what could have been...' Near the end of the game a SB rebound on one of their missed free throw was indicative of how we were at times outmuscled on the boards. We were not terrible, but we need to improve there - it was reminiscent of the way we lost the siena game.
  13. Not good. Lack the stamina to complete a game with only limited pressure. Conditioning is apparently an issue.
  14. Doesn't that pretty much sum up the UA offense every year?
  15. Normally agree...but in this instance, there were absolutely no in-game adjustments other than getting a guy on Hymes. I was just shocked at what I saw on the defensive end in the 2nd half. Yes, 6 pts on lucky banks...and even the throw up by Walter (or Ansokie...don't remember) with no time on the shot clock in the lane. And heck, I will even give the flagrant (that was not a flagrant foul...and even the Siena announcers were not happy that you have to go to a TV monitor to make such a call). But that is no excuse for giving up a 19 pt lead...even in a rivalry game. That said, we will live by the Suero/Aronholt sword...and die by it. Both couldn't play defense if their life depended on it and it now doubt put pressure on the guys down low. But to give up 17 Offensive rebounds is inexcusable. I will say this...I thought the fouls were deplorable; or the lack thereof called on Suero drives. All in all...its just a game...and it won't hurt our seeding...it wont hurt our attendance...and it wont hurt our conference prospects. WHAT I DON'T LIKE...is giving up big leads is becoming a problem. Forgetting some defensive adjustments that arguably could/should/maybe should have been made (and I agree that not having a Puk and Devlin at 100% hurt us in this game)...my real issue was the guys looked like they were in slow motion in the 2nd half. With a week of rest...you should not be getting beat for loose balls and nearly every offensive (defensive from our end board). It is up to the coaching staff to find a way to light a fire under these guys...and right now...having a big lead is not a plus for us. Look...if they use this as a teaching tool...and the guys respond...it's all forgotten. But I think it hurts more because of the rivalry...and whether the team/school/or the coaching staff like or admit it...it IS A RIVALRY GAME TO MANY OF US. Let's turn the page...and make something out of this loss. But my g-d do we need production from Luke and Puk...ASAP!!!! I strongly disagree that this won't effect attendance. Each and every loss is effecting attendance. This one being a cross town rival will lose fans. On top of his on floor coaching that I have issues with, CB's lack of enthusiasm is also a problem. This is not just another game. He should watch Army/Navy this weekend and take notes. That's a non conference, meaningless game too. You may very well be right...and the loss certainly won't HELP attendance. I just feel if this team rattles off 20 wins...we will get the 1000 plus students per night that we have seen in the past. Either way...this was, IMHO, one of the worst losses of the last 5-6 years by a UA squad. Add to that the Football loss...and I am very upset right now. And while I do like Coach, and his family...I am very anti his whole, it's just another game. It's not. Fact is, the game is played for the coaches, the players, the school and the fans. THIS GAME IS IMPT OT THE FANS...AND THE SCHOOL. He needs to embrace that...and frankly, a little pressure on kids can sometimes be good. Yes, he is correct...it doesn't affect playoff aspirations or an NCAA bid. It does effect school spirit. Precisely. Why the hell should I embrace it if he doesn't? The basketball program, and this game specifically, is entertainment and he forgets that he is part of the show. He is a bad coach and a bad actor.

This is not just another game. He should watch Army/Navy this weekend and take notes. That's a non conference, meaningless game too. This was a team loss. The coach/leadership is accountable. UA is a bigger and better team that was out-performed and out-hustled. Winning the conference is great and of greater importance, but this is the game and it truly is UA's biggest stage. CB does not get that. He wants a bigger fan base, but those fans he's looking for want to enjoy this show every year. Not only has he sucked as an on court decision maker, he seems to go out of his way to downplay the rivalry. His misreading of the audience pisses me off. I'm tired of looking at him and his assistance throw games away.
  18. I too, had been led to believe this would be on ESPN3. Someone lied. Could someone influential at Siena, anticipating embarrassment, have had the plug pulled? Shame on ESPN if that happened. I've called all the local sports bars, but they basically ask me what a Siena is? If I tell them the truth they cite some archaic board of health rules about placing crap too close to food. For now I'm going to assume http://firstrowsports.tv/sport/basketball is going to carry it. My last option would be the Siena broadcast which is essentially synonymous with Ipecac. Good luck.
  19. The game is not listed on ESPN website as being on ESPN3. All along I thought it was, was I mistaken?
  20. The article is interesting with two annoying errors. Gary Holle played in 'round robin' tournaments (also known as the Capitol District Christmas Tournament) against Albany State, Union, and RPI. St. Rose didn't even have a D-5 program at that time. And the score of the final (played February 3,1977) Albany-Siena game was not 66-58 as the poorly researched article says, but 62-49. This is only the second new-era Albany-Siena game I'll be missing. I hope they don't need me to win. I'll be watching on ESPN3. For no other reason than the fun of the rivalry, God, I love to hate Siena. Best of luck.
  21. Its not uncommon for a sound, long-term business plan to begin with free coupons, gimmicks, etc. For immediate attention, the purple field would gain UA the spotlight. I can't remember the national media ever televising the opening of new small-midsize venue. The unwrapping of the Bob Ford stadium, the BoFo, with a purple field and contrasting gold seats would gain national attention. Businesses often flop after a sensational grand opening. I'm not suggesting this replaces long-term and topnotch leadership and marketing, I'm just saying this might immediately put them on base instead of just coming up to bat.
