I don't see us winning again. Maybe Hampton but that's it. This Turkey is not only cooked...its burnt.

I think whether or not winning games will depend on the opponent and the direction that team is going.... at Delaware next weekend ... likely going to get trounced by the Blue Hens by at least 21 points.  The following weekend is New Hampshire ... having an up and down season ... if the Wildcats play well next weekend, then home on 11-02-24 is going to be a long afternoon unless we much better in Delaware which I do not see.... how do we find an offensive line plus discipline in a week's time.

Son wanted to go to game vs. Stony Brook. I have convinced him to go to Rutgers-Minnesota on the same day. If I am gonna watch bad football for my son, it won't be a team I support.

Through 7 games, with 5 more to go, here is where we stand:

  • Gattuso's overall record is 53-65, good for 44.9%, 42.9% in 2024
  • Our average win margin in 2024 is 11.3, down from 18.8 last year
  • Our average loss margin in 2024 is 23.3, up from 20.3 last year
  • Out of the 33 statistical categories tracked, our ranking has:
    • Regressed in 26 of them, 79%
    • Stayed the same in 2 of them, 6%
    • Improved in 5 of them, 15%
  • Some alarming statistical areas
    • We are DEAD LAST in Red Zone Offense, sub 60%. The next worst team is a nearly 7.5% better than us.
    • We are allowing opponents to convert 4th downs at an 18% higher clip compared to last year
    • We are WAY down in Sacks - meaning we are not getting pressure on the other teams QB like we did last year. We would have to average 6.8 sacks the rest of the way to get to the same number as last year.
    • Our offensive and defensive efficiency numbers have tanked by 20%+ in each category.
    • Our rushing defense gave up less than 90yd/game last year...this year we are nearly at 180yd/game.

This team is awful and the loser with the headset is the most to blame. Everyone had to deal with the portal but it's only prevented him from succeeding? GTHO with that nonsense.

FIRE THIS CLOWN ALREADY!

Finally watched highlights (lowlights?) from Saturday. It reminded me of the early years in the CAA with the opponents having too much athletic talent to stop. And that really isn’t the case. So it comes down to recruiting, coaching and execution. Out of position, poor tackling, excess celebration, a mess. How could this team fall so low so fast? Embarrassing effort at homecoming.

While I basically agree with your post overall; not really sure  UA  has the talent overall of other CAA teams? I have said from caa day one UA has a competitive  disadvantage  to the Southern Schools in recruiting. While it may have equaled out some, with the departure to FBS of a number of the the southern schools; IMHO I believe overall the southern schools still have a better overall recruiting pool to draw from and perhaps a better climate to offer. Even a "bad" Elon seemed to have stronger, quicker athletes??

That’s a legit argument. The southeast pool is deeper for sure. On the other hand, if you look at last year’s big playmakers (and some big losses) only Poff was south…and that was MD. Most of the rest were PA, NY and Midwest. Even Verse was PA. Maine and UNH regularly put together solid competitive teams from a more remote location. So I honestly can’t use that as a reason for GG’s lack of consistent success. It’s frustrating for sure.

UNH called, they say hold my beer.  It's not a recruiting area issue. Same with 'Nova.

I will also say Albany seems to focus on having a few players a year that stand way out. Hanks, green, verse, juncaj, poff, Easton and hicks all had talent to mask other spots being less than great. When nobody on the team sticks out at all you’re left with whatever this year is…

Stony Brook was winless last year.  Any decent players left, any studs in the portal wouldn't want to touch that program, and they fire Priore to start a long rebuild.  They are now 5-2.  UA goes to a national semifinal, did lose a few guys looking to cash in on the success, but bring in some solid guys looking to play for a national contender, and we have an experienced(but inconsistent) coach, and we regress to this point.  Mind boggling.

Loss the entire defense but for on e returning started and he got hurt the first game!!
