MBB - Game 2 vs. College at Oneonta, SUNY, Broadview Center, Albany, NY, Saturday, November 9, 2024, 7:00PM

Contrary to the uninformed WRGB Channel-6 sportscaster and news anchor Liz Bishop, we are not playing SUNY-Potsdam, this weekend:

I will not be attending as a tradeoff for going to the WBB game vs URI and a Saturday night dinner with friends.

I know this is a D3 game, but it's coming at a good time. Hopefully they can figure some stuff out, correct some issues, regain confidence, and allow some rest for the early injuries. It feels like the talent is there. The defense didn't look terrible against Army, they mostly took care of the ball, they just couldn't put the ball in the hoop. DK can still prove the naysayers wrong, at least I hope he does.

2pt game at the half...beyond embarrassing.

Oneonta has shot 16ft's...shooting 66% from the field. Unreal, zero defense being played, and what little there is, being played with their hands.

How far this program has fallen. This will be a single digit win campaign. This is a bad bad team.

Controlled the ball with only 4 turnovers

Made some highlight reel dunks

Got a lot of players significant time on the floor

Team hustled and seemed to win the effort plays.

Don't think anyone got hurt.

Rested Marshall and Reddish. Hopefully they can get to 100% health quickly.

Terrible from the line... This can be an Achilles heel. Especially when playing quickly and aggressively. Not capitalizing on freebies hurts and can cost games.

Not sure what else you can take from a D3 game. Not a fan of these on the schedule, but if we have to have them then scheduling as a game 2 or game 3 is good for health and time to work on things the team may have struggled with.

Crowd was surprisingly decent but at times it felt like there were more Oneonta fans in the building than UA fans. (That could have just been my section). Hopefully a great UA crowd next week.

Next.

Paused the game at halftime and went to spent time with family.

Played better second half against a much inferior opponent, that's about the best you can say about this team. At least it wasn't a loss. It's still shocking how bad of a shooting team this is as I watch them clank 3 after 3.

"How far this program has fallen. This will be a single digit win campaign. This is a bad bad team."

Not sure I agree with this statement at this point. Just too early to tell?  Lost to a disciplined and well coached Army team and that IMHO was definitely "bad bad" coaching on UA's part. Killings seems to never have a back-up or an alternative strategy when his #1 and apparently only strategy is failing. I know the phrase, "play to your strengths" has "some" merit, but got to be able to react. So your statement may very well be right on?

But with at least two+ either out or limited every game, with pretty much terrible shooting, UA has been able to show some defense, enough defense at times to  beat the teams they should absolutely beat and at least compete in their only D1 game to date. There is so much athletic potential, equity and depth on this team, that I think the shooting will come around; the defense has shown some signs of being there "at times"; and even playing fast/fast., they have NOT turned the ball over anywhere near previous few years. So, make some more shots, get some rebounding and start believing that defense is not just a thought but an action to be executed, IMHO it is too early to pronounce UA "bad bad."

Maybe I'll be wrong but I doubt it, my assessment is largely a reflection of the coaching staff. There is zero proof they know how to coach and the team NEVER gets any better as season moves on. Hey, maybe this is the year but after 3+ years, I doubt it. They are very much still a mess on both ends.

I'd like to be proven wrong.

I liked Klaczek 2-3 from 3- pointers, but he picked up 3 fouls pretty quick.

Attendance 2020 sure looked a lot less than the 1838 at the women’s game Friday. Of course that probably had half of Greenwich attending

Some of us, on the forum, have said in the three previous seasons, Killings cannot coach. Based on what I have seen, there no reason to believe he will have a game plan for any games in the 2024-2025.
