7-5 with goal by Levine. Sounds like there is a large Albany crowd there. Also, sounds like very physical game. Announcers a little critical of Albany's rough play but also crediting Albany with playing well.

7-5 with goal by Levine. . . .

Glad to hear UAlbany is doing so well against last year's national champion. Also glad to hear that Hopkins has scored only 7 goals against our defense, arguably the area where we needed the most improvement after the loss of so many last season.

Final: Hopkins 10, Albany 8. Great start for Albany. The defense played very well, especially Queener is goal. Offense came on strong in 2nd half. Only weakness, according to Hop announcers, is UA's midfield play. Otherwise, they were very impressed by Albany.

Report from Johns Hopkins:

Good turnout by Albany fans (75-100). Total attendance was 1,800. Surprised there was no raising a National Championship banner ceremony, though for the opening game each year they honor JHU lax players who died in WWI and WWII.

For a place that likes to say it's the founding college of NCAA lacrosse or something, the stadium isn't much - the turf is the same as Fallon Field, about 4,000 concrete seats, (just aluminum benches bolted flush to the concrete steps) and a scoreboard that only gives the time, the score, and total shots on goal - no other stats or information.

(BTW, I was told Fallon's scoreboard has arrived, but it's iffy for installation by this weekend)

Lax is no different from basketball - when Albany cut the score to 7-5, you KNEW a penalty was going to be called against us in the next ten seconds, just like when hoops played Florida, etc.

Queener's goalkeeper's goal (or whatever they call it) was electrifying. The Baltimore SUN didn't mention it, but it made the TV highlights that night.
