Home Field Edge or Recruiting Problem?

Recommended Posts

If the detailed plans were in place and they broke ground today, how long would a project like this take to complete.  I'm assuming the master plan would be followed and the location of the field would be in the current RACC parking lot.

Can anyone reference other projects of this size and how long these took.

Hard to tell without knowing if it's going to be steel-and-aluminum or concrete, how much earth-moving you plan on, or how many crews you'll have on - building the new parking during stadium construction - or if the adjoining buildings must be built at the same time.

Lafayette began to demolish the concrete visitors' side on March 6, and they expect to have that (1,750) rebuilt and a new artificial field by September, along with replacing the wooden benches with aluminum on the home side.

We got the FH and lax fields done in under four months; St. Francis was 3 months for their football playing surface, and they put in 4,000 bleacher-type seats since this spring.

OTOH Stony Brook started before February 2001 expecting to be finished by November; instead they didn't open until Sept. 2002.

In the Athletics Newsletter I got today, McElroy says "we will begin an environmental impact and design site feasibility study for Phase II" of the master plan. I don't know how long those usually take, but I wouldn't expect any exciting announcements soon.

He also said Albany and NYC Steering Committees have been organized to lead a significant fundraising program to complement the U and State resources for the football stadium.

It's in the AD's link on the Athletics homepage
