Holy crap. What a game!

This team seemed to really pull together and everyone gave a great effort. Luckily, Jerel is looking a LOT more confident and offensive minded. Lillis' pull-up jumper is scary good and seeing him put 29 on UVM, our biggest rival was a great sight to see. When Blakely put that shot up at the end, I could have sworn it was going to go in but for once we closed this game out. GREAT effort!

Hopefully we can start a streak now.

Also hope Martin is good to go...

Post-season like shouting during a regular season game. My voice is shot, luckily I have some days to recover.

As mentioned earlier here, dunderhead move of the year not to have this game at a better day. Way to go AE! Still a nice crowd and thanks to Bob87 for his help before the game. Sorry they kept announcing the Giants score during the game - at least they gave you some warning.

Funny that as we became enamoured with our freshman Coach Brown goes back to the bigger, veteran lineup from earlier in the season and they win! Lillis was not of this earth today, great to see. I liked the that fact that we won with Connelly missing some shots he almost always makes. Best thing about this game was that just about everyone who went out on the floor found a way to contribute, that's a great sign.

Holy smokes! What a game. UVM has nothing to hang their head about....well except for the complete bull$#%^ thats being posted on their board right now. UVM fans are the biggest bunch of sore losers around! Love reading it though, hope they keep the posts coming. Obviuosly, not all of them but there are a number of sore losers on that board. One had this to say about Brian "Brian Littlis is so bush league (ie rolling the ball on the ground after making the layup late in OT). Shows that he is truly a classless white trash player from Iowa who fits in well in The Capital City."

I love it!

- Coach Brown showed today why he is a great coach. He kept subbing John and Jarrel almost ever chance down the stretch. Offense for defense. He also managed Timmy properly, if there was ever any doubt......Timmy has a long way to go. Great individual talent but needs work, coach is using him properly. I love the fact that he doesn't appear to be down on himself or the coach....always up cheering and slapping high fives with the guys coming of the floor. IMO, shows his character, that he isn't all about ME. Keep plugging away kid, the sun will shine through.

- I know UVM fans are running away with the classic....'refs gave UA the game' excuse. I thought there were a number of bs fouls on both teams in the end the team that wanted it more won. The refs did not decide this game.

- Iati, aaaahhhh the much maligned Iati. I for one will shot my mouth about him now.....he handled the PG duties as good as anyone, brought the ball up against the pressure, didn't panic or get flustered. 7 points....0 TO's, 3 reb and 3 assists! I thought he had a very very strong game. Making only one obvious mistake when he left Cepliki wide open on a three.

- Jerell, if he can keep bringing it like he did today, I think we would all be grateful. 8 pts. 5 reb and 50% shooting from the floor. We got a huge lift from this kid today....I think he has a tremendous amount of potential but much like Siggers in his first year......has yet to really get on track. Today, I though was a great step in the right direction for him.

I finally saw today whats really been missing......that desire and simply the will not give the game up. The hustle and intensity was out of this world. They played tough....like ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Hopefully they will build on this very very solid win.

UVM is a very tough team. Blakelly is a stud....no other way to put it. Acou (sp?) for a freshman has some serious stones.....took big shots and made them. He reminds me allot of Iati before Iati ran into all of the injuries. UVM got themselves a good one there. Trimboli as always scares the crap out of me, so savy and smart, even with him out they wouldn't give up or give in. Kudos to Lonergan and the coaching staff for fielding a very confident and determined team. They have had a tough stretch in OOC just as we have.

I predict this board will be much more hospitable after this win. LET'S GO DANES!

Wow.....I have a better eye than I thought; Attendance: 2916.

That is encouraging considering you need to take about 300 off for Vermont fans...the Giants were on, and the students were away. With students, I would suspect around 3700 for this one.

Trimboli also got away w/ one in the first half. The call was made on drive to the basket and they called it on Blakely who came in late and tipped the ball. The whistle had already blown and it was Trimboli's foul. The UVM coaches were yelling to the official (during the ensuing TO) at the other end that it was 13, not 23. Ref just kept saying 23. He was wrong. In the end just didn't matter.

If any of the UVM fans want to talk, maybe they should address Trimboli's behavior after fouling out.

It was an intense and emotional game but he was acting like a six year old whose ice cream just hit the ground.

Yes, I saw the posts made by a particular Catamount fan over on their board. He made not only one incredibly poor comment about Lillis (the one to which Bosiydid referred), but also a second one. Just like most schools' fans, you find mostly rational people who recognize good ball, but a couple bad apples who show little class toward opponents.

I like the one Catamount fan who called Will Brown "whiney" when Coach LOGICALLY EXPLAINED why he hasn't played Ambrose more.

Every school has them.

It goes both ways. If Albany lost, there would be people on here badmouthing UVM. This is more of a rivalry between the fans than is between the players. Lillis did do some show off type of thing after scoring that last basket. He's not Tyler Hansbrough out there, his emotions just got in the way. Same thing with trimboli after fouling out on a call away from the ball.

Ummmm...why would we have badmouthed UVM. We haven't done that. It is your fans who continue to bash Brown and his program because of his Coppenrath comment.

Save it for your own board.

Dane,

You are absolutely right, when they beat us twice last year most of us were complimentary and didn't shift the blame to the refs. Obviously it's easier to be complimentary in a win then a loss but still, UA fans have proven themselves to be gracious in defeat....ie. Siena etc. It's hard to find a fan base that is more of sore loser then UVM....no bigger sore loser then Preston (EDIT: I was thinking of HardCat who is not their admin, once I read his post I realized I made a mistake), their Admin. His whiny posts are priceless.

Our coach and our program is under constant barrage of insults from the UVM fan base (or whats represented on their board), I'm fine with that as long as we keep putting wood to them, especially when the games really matter.
