Patterson COY! AE Awards

Big Congrats to Patterson who won coach of the year today! Sanders makes 2nd team all-conference and Higy 3rd team all conference. However, very upset Sanders didn't win defensive player of the year, but did make the all-defensive team (a unanimous choice). Sanders also made all-academic team. Janea Aiken made the all-rookie team.

Congrats. Not long ago people were calling for her job.

 

When is her contract up?

Do you guys see any big extension or increase?

 

I mean COY is great....but its not the promise land of the NCAA yet.......a couple of games to go for that. (Man did Coach Brown set the bar high!)

If she gets more than a one year Will Brown type extension...I will be surprised.

 

Is this COY similar to that of Harrison?

I don't think you can really say that. This team was picked to finish 8th in the conference. Hartford and Vermont were predicted to finish 1-2 and Boston was predicted 4th and finished 3rd. The only two teams that finished completely out of where they were predicted was Stony Brook and Albany.

 

I think she is well deserving and in no way is a Harrison vote. You can only give the award to Rizzotti so many times. I would have said it would be down to Patterson and Dawley for Vermont. However, based on where the two teams were predicted to finish and where they actually finished I think is what you have to look at.

let me also add...Sanders should have won defensive player of the year. When you lead your team and are top five in the conference in defensive rebounds, steals and blocks, you win that award. Kotsopolous is good, and I have seen her play, but when you can do multiple defensive things like Sanders does, you should win these things.
