2009 Recruiting Needs

Recommended Posts

So I think it is never to early to start the discussion about what our 2009 Recruiting needs are.

First lets take a look at the seniors. G/F Hastings 6'5; C Covington 6'7; PF Connelly 6'8.

Does anyone have any info on the three Iowa players CB is trying to recruit?

Sounds like we have a need for a wing and two post players.

Coach Brown has indicated that the league is getting smaller and more athletic thus I think the focus will be more on athletesism and speed rather then size. The two players I have heard of him going after are Nate Hutcheson and Zach Bohannon. It's public knowledge that we have offer out to Nate.

I've seen a couple of clips of Nate and he appears to be a very very good athlete...stands about 6'6 although he does appear to be a bit thin. If I'm not mistaken a couple of MVC teams are closely following him although last I heard we are the only team to have offered, more offers are expected so if we could lock him up early it would be great IMO. His team mate Zach Bohannon is more of a post player and from what I can gather a rebounding machine. If memory servers he stands about 6'7, we have not offered him as of yet last I heard.

Both of these guys play for Lin-Mar HS in Iowa, and if I'm not mistaken we are also targeting another kid a guard who plays with them on their AAU team.

Anyway, this is what I've been able to gather from hours of reading and looking on the web. Who knows, perhaps I'm just regurgitating old new.

He's actually 6'6 but growing. Name is Nate Hutcheson.

The wing is Zach Bohannon. Not the post.

The post guy is their Martin Bro AAU teammate Gabe Knulson from Waukee. He stands at 6'7-6'8.

ALL ARE VERY GOOD and we would be happy as Dane fans if they came in a package deal.

The Martin Bros. AAU organization gave us Brian Lillis and Brent Wilson.......If that is any indication --we want these kids. From all I have heard we could get all three. a la Lillis and Wilson--If we get one or two--we get all three. I know Lillis and Wilson will do their part.

Nate Hutcheson REALLY wants to come I think.

We get all three...to go with the Raffa, Aronholt, Lindfors class....WOW! Those 6, plus Billy Allen, Martin, and Turley would make up a phenomenal 10 guys.

So whats stopping him from verbally committing and why haven't we offered Zach and the other AAU kid?

If you watch the NCAA tourney you'll see Zack Bohannon's brother Jason, a soph guard for Wisconsin.

That has got to be one heck of a high school basketball team Bohannon and Hutechson are on. In addition to those two they have Grant Gibbs who is going to Gonzaga and Alex Weldon who's going to Drake.
