National Signing Day (Feb 4) upcoming

Recommended Posts

This sounds like a great signing to me. I love kids that wrestle. They are always tough kids.

Agreed. Hard-nosed kids usually willing to mix it up.

Section II has always produced good recruits for us. I hope they get some specific attention on the local news tomorrow. That gives junior recruits something to look at as a positive. Local "celebrity" if you will.

That's why I think its so important to treat signing day as an "event."

Looks like a good athlete.

"THE ATHLETE: Phillipy was known primarily as a strong defensive end who could both rush the passer and provide good run tackling. But this year, he blossomed as a pass-catching tight end and did so well he scored an Associated Press first-team spot as a tight end. He was recruited primarily for offense, and he turned down a preferred walk-on invitation at Penn State to pursue his two-sport dream at Albany."

I was worried that kid would slip away. For a kid from Pennsylvania to turn down a preferred walk-on to Penn State is tough.

Its also a good pickup for the track team. Javelin throwers are tough to find as not many high schools participate in NY. The kid is a 190'+ thrower too, which is pretty good for high school and will likely score in many meets in college.

I liked this line from a Syracuse TV station. It's nice to know UAlbany football is making a name for itself. UA is a winner. They just need to step it up to the next level.

"Across town, Liverpool two-way star Corey Bundrage will also sign a scholarship offer Wednesday afternoon. Bundrage will play his college football down the thruway for I-AA power U-Albany."

That is a sweet line (albeit a bit generous!).

Corey Bundrage is a heck of an athlete. A TE/DE in high school with speed (runs hurdles and sprints for indoor/outdoor track as well).

6'4", 205. Perfect size to be a big play split end for us.

Got another:

Buddy Leathley from Fayetville Manilus HS via Bridgton Academy. (Coach Ford has had good success through Bridgeton Academy)

6'1, 180lbs dual threat QB.

I've heard (not confirmed) that he's already enrolled and will be ready for spring ball.

According to this Ohio University blog (take that for what its worth), he had offers from Temple, Rhode Island and Albany, as well as recruited by Ohio University, Richmond, Youngstown State and Appalachian State
