Brown interviewing at Dartmouth?

Recommended Posts

A fresh start would be terrible for the program at this point...all the progress the young kids made last season would be gone, starting over with a new coach and a new system...not to mention that if Brown leaves, who says Logan and Black don't leave too. As much as we are all frustrated with how last season ended up, a CB departure would be nothing but terrible for the program at this point

I agree I rock(ed). This would not be good at all. This group, with some additions, has potential to be very good. A fresh start might really cause some issues and set the program back a few years while the new coach rebuilds.

Give me norm roberts...

I may get bashed for saying this, but is coach brown a players coach? In my opinion no. He has gotten into it with players recently and will put the blame on players when they lose. I have never heard him say once after a loss that he just out coached or made mistakes. The losses are always because of blown assignments and missed shots. Black and logan would get playing time no matter who the new coach would be and that is prob the important factor. Just my opinion. Losing recruits for next year won't matter cause we don't have any anyway. Well one if you count the mystery recruit from last week.

If he stays ill welcome him back with open arms.

last season's group had potential to be very good and was supposed to finish anywhere from 2nd to 4th in the league.

I'm sure most people will already have seen the article on this in the TU but here's the link: http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=922205

Singelais makes it so obvious he doesn't like CB in his article. The fact that he was so late reporting this when it broke shows he doesn't care about actually informing the public on the topics he was hired to report on.

Late? Late doesn't begin to describe it...you'd think the track was in session with how "LATE" this guy was to reporting this.

What did he say there that said he didn't like him? I know they both aren't the best of friends, but that article was all facts and numbers. They losing the last 23/27 in conference play is ridiculous and if Brown say they can be very good next year why is he looking to leave? All valid points.

Very obvious that Brown is looking to get out of Dodge ASAP.

I think you and I must have read different articles..I saw nothing in the article confirming who searched out who. I like to be optimistic here and view it as a compliment to our program/coach..because a DI school has interest in our coach for their head coaching gig..despite his record last year. Dartmouth must still see something in him.

If you are talking Mark S article, it is the same as it always is. The next time he breaks news that isn't already out there somewhere else will be his first. He also always will put the most negative spin that he can. Obviously there isn't much positive to include over the last 2 seasons, but 27 league games must be worse than including the nonleague games and worse than including 28 or 29. There really is no rational reason to go with a 27 game sample size. 1 league season is 16 games, 2 would be 32, add in tournament games, you get 35 league games over 2 seasons, but Mark would rather use incomplete seasons.

As far as Mark taking 2 days to break this, it is probably because it happened on his days off. I am sure he would tell us he deserves some days off. I would not argue with that and in fact would prefer if the TU gave him 7 days off each week and hired someone better.

As far as coach interviewing at Dartmouth, we will see how it plays out. If he goes I wish him well there and if he stays I am hoping the last 2 seasons are aberrations and UA gets on the right track that there were on in their beginning part of his tenure. Sports is a tough business. You really only get one chance to build to the top. Once you get there the first time people expect you to stay there. It is not easy to stay there at any level. In the pros the only team that I follow that I have seen get there more than once is the Giants. I am too young to remember 69 and still am waiting for the mets for 24 years now and it is going on 27 years for the Isles. Those NY's who follow the Jets or the Knicks have been waiting even longer.

I would like to think that some day the state will get their budget issues fixed and UA will be able to improve facilitates and make it back to the top of the league, but maybe I am being unrealistic in all 3.

Purplehaze.... that question is answered. Looks like Brown was not the one who reached out to Dartmouth.... Dartmouth reached out to him...

"That same source said it was Dartmouth which initiated contact with Brown while he was in Indianapolis at the Final Four."

Talking to Dartmouth. Interest in the Pitt Assistant position. Obviously he is looking to get out of here.

That is what I am referring to.

Jaime Dixon and Will are very tight...and Jamie reached out to him I would presume...just like he did when Will took this job in the first place.

Get your facts straight....or at least know the history.

Agreed. We as fans would be stupid to think Dixon wouldn't reach out to Will without Will reaching out to him. I agree, its pretty obvious that Dixon would ask Will if he was interested in the open position and not wait for Will to come around and ask.
