If you think the TU..or any newspaper/media outlet..cares more about "what's best" for a university in it's area than breaking stories (and generating $)..then you're a much more altruistic-assuming than I am!

 

With 9 people..this isn't as much a 'finalist' list as it is an interviwee list. It was either leaked by someone with access to it who want to feel important..or it was purposely leaked in order to get unofficial public comment/thought on the candidates.

Maybe I'm foolish to think the TU would place the university ahead of its own interests.

Ok, I'm an idiot for thinking it.

 

It would be nice if things don't fall apart or get blunderplucked somehow with both the CAA invite

and the new unversity president. Let's just have both of these things go without a hitch for once.

 

My guess it was leaked. The university doesn't seem to have much concern for outside opinion.

If the T-U wanted to make $ on this story, it wouldn't have been just one column, below the fold of the front page (a big picture of a guy lining the field for the Giants took up the middle of the page, the lead story was about the partisan distribution of school aid). Even the T-U could do better than that.

 

But like Wyland's story on the CAA, this smells like either somebody unauthorized is leaking, the contact doesn't know how to say "off the record", or two different local reporters are ignoring their promise to keep it OTR.

The Presidential Search Committee held a series of screening interviews over several days with candidates who had been selected from a larger pool of candidates seen as highly qualified. The interviews focused in depth on the candidate's experience, qualifications, current responsibilities, achievements and relevance to the Presidential position at UAlbany. Following each interview, the committee discussed each candidate with each member of the committee offering commentary and personal assessment which resulted in the selection of those candidates who will move forward in the process.

 

 

So, really nothing said except that the process is continuing.
