So how is different from a UA merger? SUNY Poly is or will be a full pledge university with an English Department, History etc.

 

I guess they don't take on the baggage of all of those social science programs. Just the basics.

"University at Albany - State University of New York" has been removed from the wall of the CNSE building facing I-90; no "SUNY Polytechnic" yet.

UA's problem as it constricts avenues of expansion, not that it's likely we would've been allowed to wipe out a neighborhood to expand OUR campus, as was touched upon last week in the "Enrollment decline" thread.

President Jones did mention that we picked up 12 acres of Harriman for the e-tech bldg and the new college of emergency preparedness (or whatever the name is) plus the rehab of the Schyler bidg. in the downtown campus for the new engineering programs.

So we were 'leasing', got it. I was just trying to reword what he was saying, not stating anything matter of factly, etc.

I am not talking about a bit of land on Loughin Street. The land nano is on and most of the surrounding land was/is owned by UA or the UA Foundation. We have not been compensated for it, in any way. A few bits of the Harriman campus is only a drop in the bucket, compared to what we lost. As you can see from every article on land in the city of Albany and its immediate surrounding area---LAND IS AT A PREMIUM AND MUCH DESIRED by pretty nearly every political spectrum (state, city, education) and like wise by big business and construction entities.
