I didn't think Sam took that many bad shots in the first half. He's a big part of our offense and he's going to attack.

I thought Ray Sanders looked really out of sorts in the first half. Like he was doing everything too fast. UNLV gave us every chance to crawl back into at the end of the half and we didn't make it happen.

Outrebounded 38-30, only five assists, 1-8 from 3-pointers in the 2nd half, 8 UNLV blocks to our none.

The amount of fireworks and flames during the pregame was impressive, but the announced attendance of 11,209 was laughable, I'd bet no more than 7000.

I have watched all but one game this year and you begin to see how valuable John Puk was in the middle either altering a shot or blocking them. We have none of that this season with Sam and Mike up front. Peters doesn't seem to have a spring in his step to get up quick to block. Opponents are able to get to the rim with ease for layups and simple finger rolls. Will need to rely on the guards to keep slashers in front of them this season with no protection behind them.

Was it me, or was UNLV ridiculously hot from outside? I couldn't believe how open we left them on some shots, and how they somehow seemed to make the bad shots when we did get a hand in the face. Combine that with UA missing almost every shot (yet making all the stupid shots they took after the whistle).

When it was within 5 in the second half, I thought we had a chance to pull off the upset - but cold shooting ended it.

They shot 42% or so from three but you're right, it felt like more than that. Maybe it was because we would just crawl back into it when they would can another one.
