Hey- i know you had a cousin who played baseball at Siena. And I believe I've seen you wear a Siena tshirt more than once, Benedict Dane!!

 

 

Not true at all. What is true is that not only did you PREFER to hit on the Siena girls down at T's but you also did your thesis in Prof. Roberts class on The Renaissance Art and The Effect on Outlying Non-Florentine Areas focusing on..wait for it. Siena.

Didn't know where to post this question. There has been talk about UA moving to a better conference. Is that realistic? What conference would it move to? if UA wants better competition there are only a few plausible options. Talk with select universities about forming a new conference. This is not likely going to happen but a conference composed of similar institutions with perhaps a north south devision would be interesting. The more plausible option would be to convince members of America East to upgrade their commitment. The AE conference has the institutions to move into the "high mid-major" category but it would need the necessary effort to make it happen.

First you have to make your decisions on football. If we go FBS there are only a couple of conferences available and they have to invite us. If we stay FCS, football probably has to stay in the CAA and that eliminates the MAC and C-USA, neither of which are that appealing otherwise anyway.

 

The difference in conference strength between 28 and 15 is minimal anyway, about 3%. When aints fans talk about the MAAC being stronger than AE (basketball only) they're arguing that they're the biggest midget. The difference between 15 and 30 is smaller than the difference between 1 and 6. I don't think many of the New England AE teams have the resources to 'upgrade their commitment' without dropping hockey or football, which they're not going to do. All they really have to do is improve their ranking from the 330s to 250 - about where Lowell is now. That by itself would jump AE into the mid-teens and all the talk about the "weak America East" goes away.

Maine is behind both of them in Sagarin right now, but the new coaches at UM and UMBC seem to have them playing a lot better, even if they're still undermanned. Bing is also shorthanded, and New Hampshire's much improved, so maybe there's hope. Just can't afford any backsliding next year.

Maine beat Wagner, UMBC beat Longwood and Kennesaw St., Bing beat Maine. ALL OF THOSE WINS ARE AGAINST TEAMS WITH RPI OVER 300.

 

Really, if the bottom three teams were just 14-26 instead of 3-37 OOC and nobody else changed, there would be a whole different perception. We can only hope improvements are coming. Bing took UNH to overtime today, UMBC was only down 2 to UVM at the half but ran out of gas again.

Yes. The Hooley situation should have nothing to do with UA/Siena contract. I get that Pastos donated to the charity, but that should be that. It should have no affect on the negotiations.
