A Little 'Laptop to TV' Help

Ok, for a long time now, I've been thinking about buying the cables to connect my laptop to the tv to watch games

on the large screen. But, I'm not sure what cables / connection I need to buy and where to buy it.

I have quite a few ports... vga, hdmi, eSATA... on the laptop.

On the tvs, I have an S video port, the yellow/red/white VA holes.. but no HDMI ports..

Any help would be appreciated

Something like this should work http://m.ebay.com/itm/171632311939?nav=SEARCH

Check the TV to see if it's composite or component. Composite is the r/w/y and the component is R/g/b

Taking care of both audio and video, again I assume

I think that tv has the composite.

On her more basic tv.... do I put it on channel 3 and start watching after the connection?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'd rather not take 6 months to figure it out.

not channel 3. You need to change the input. Get a Chromecast if you have HDMI on the TV. Plug that in and you can sit on the couch with your laptop and cast to the TV wirelessly.

There should be an input or video option on the remote to switch to it.

That tv has both a video 1 and video 2 channels, so I should be fine.

When I thought about this in the past, I thought I would need separate cables for both video and audio, and converter boxes..

which stopped me from pursuing it.... didn't want to deal with the $iena.
