Awesome...then horrible...then awesome ending to that game.

Five Championships in a row. Never been done before until now.

That was nerve racking but fun to watch! Glad they pulled it out. Amazed the refs didn't call a foul when Richards got tripped on that inbounds pass. Congrats to the ladies!!!

Someone on the AE board mentioned that the crowd at SEFCU was very active. The writer also said Maine had a good representative group at the game. Anyone else on this board have assessments of the crowd and atmosphere. Great win by the Lady Danes, and they keep the home game winning streak alive. Also, congratulations to Maine for putting up a great fight.

ESPN has Danes as a 14 seed vs. Kentucky in Lexington. I don't understand why they have them as a 14 when teams they have ranked higher seeds don't have a better RPI. I would love to not have to face the host school in the first round. I would think they can push for a 11 or 12 seed. I mean they have a Top 50 RPI and 5 straight titles...that doesn't mean anything?

I wasn't there but from the TV coverage the crowd seemed loud and into it. Looked about half full maybe? Someone would need to confirm that. Also looked like Maine had about 7-8 rows full of people behind their bench but they seemed very active.

I missed the game and was watching on the DVR and after the 2.6 second left turnover the recording ended!!! What happened???

They got the ball in bounds in front of their bench to one of their post players by the three point line and she looked around for someone to pass too and there was no one open. She then took a wild shot that didn't even get near the backboard and the celebration began!

Maine box score says attendance was 1519, which seems pretty low. Maine had a couple hundred fans (many more than Hartford for the men's playoff) with a loud band, and our student section was mostly full even though spring break started at 4:00. Saw Ennema and Sanders there.

RealtimeRPI had us a twelve seed until the Maine loss, we've been a 13 since then. FIve straight championships would count for something if we had actually beaten some power teams instead of losing on the last possession. There's not much difference between 12 and 13 because you still have to beat the 4 and 5 to get to the sweet 16. Edit: Back up to a twelve today.

Of the teams we lost to, Tennessee is projecting about a six or seven seed, Army 13 or 14, and Southern Cal finished 18-13 with an RPI of 55 and not dancing.

I spent most of the game wondering what happened to the "freedom of movement" refs were supposed to allow this year. Maine had the paint packed in pretty well. Without long-range shooting we need to be close to perfect on the 10-12 footers.

When UA, along with Binghamton and Stony Brook, joined the America East, there was a little grumbling among the non-SUNY schools about adding us. We were going to bring down the general level of the conference. With Stony Brook's win this afternoon, the SUNY schools have won BOTH the men's and women's tournaments four years in a row.

The difference between a 12 or 13 seed is that as a 13 you will be playing a 4 seed on their home court in the first round. The top 16 seeds will be hosts in the first and second rounds.

More importantly - only Albany out of the 4 SUNY University Centers has EVER made it to the Women's Tourney

We are the only ones and we have done it 5 times

oops - UB women won today as did the men - oh well - congrats to the Bulls

ESPN Bracketology bumps us up to a 13 seed..playing Syracuse at Syracuse. Location would be great for fans..but would have the Danes playing on the road instead of a neutral game if we were to get the 12 seed. For what it's worth..they project Army as the 12 seed in Syracuse. Hopefully that 3 point loss at West Point isn't the difference maker.
