David is 4-12...need him to produce as our PG.

Cremo was 5/12. Not sure what you have against Nichols

Nichols had 5 assists. Plays as hard as anyone one on the team. I'll take the aggressive mistakes he makes.

Cremo was 5-10 until he put up a couple 3FGA in the last few seconds of the game.

I think it's just decision-making for Nichols at this point..realizing he's still just a sophomore..and is playing what's really his first season. You need someone who's never afraid to take a shot..but will need to learn when it's ok to force it and when it's not. He's got a good mid-range game..but I thought he took many contested long two-pointer jumpers in traffic when his drive got cut off. Lowest scoring shot in basketball. We need his outside shot to start dropping too..as I'm sure it will open the lane just a bit for him.

The team played 30+ minutes of very good basketball. Solid defense and had enough shots falling on the offensive side. Too bad it ended up being an 18 point game..didn't show how close the game was for that long. If we play like that during conference season..we'll win a lot of games.

Free Throw attempts

UA 4-5

SMU 13-24

Wonder when the last time a team got that many more FT attempts than us and we got that few.

Big 5 conference on the road. I did not expect us to get too many calls go our way. But I also expected some honest calls and ref's to check the monitors when out of position or unsure. Flagrant on Nichols was as bogus as they come & even the local announcers said so. Same with smu slipped & fell call; in fact this actually also happened on a rebound play where the smu guy slipped & fell and the ref's called a foul on UA & basically did not even know who to call it on. Someone commented the ref's were bored. I am not saying we would have won this game, but I would have loved to see what would have happened if the ref' showed some belief that UA had a chance. I do not think smu took us lightly, but the officiating certainly seemed to.

Stupid game. Just finished watching it. Refs were a joke...I'd be thrown out of SEFCU if I witnessed some of those calls live. They'd (refs) never hear the end of it. Even the ESPN guys were calling them 'proximity fouls'...WTH is that?

Yes, this. Yeah Cremo hit only 5 but he had more points and was more efficient.

I mean I don't have specifically anything against him, just saying.. I mean Brown didn't start him for a reason. Just my observations.

Totally agree.

It's a fine line for a point guard on when to call your own number and when to run more offense. Nichols has tended to be more aggressive but I'm sure he'll temper it. By the time he's all done he's going to be a terrific player.

On the other hand. The more I see Grayson play the more he looks like he has all the tools to be an all-conference type guard. He seems to fade into the woodwork a little too much. I'd like to see he and Nichols meet somewhere in the middle on the aggressiveness scale and we'll have a heck of a backcourt.
