15 turnovers, only 7 forced. Ierlan has only lost 1 face-off...unreal

I think Ierlan won all of the faceoffs. I was at the game and I never saw him lose one. First one they had illegal procedure so that goes as a win. There was one where he was knocked to the ground from behind, but didn't we get the ball anyway?

Worse game I have seen in a while first 1/2 - in the car coming home I told my so they must have had 10 unforced turnovers - don't know what the official stats look like but not good. Lousy lacrosse that first 1/2 and a part of the 3rd quarter.

They changed the stats Ierlan 24 for 24. I didn't think he lost any!

They had 7 penalties and we had 2 - They should have been called for several more. Marr was screaming a couple of times - the stands went nuts and the officials finally told him to knock it off. They missed several blatant fouls we thought!

Now THAT...is a team that has a heart.   Games like this help define a team mentality for a season.   Period.

Wow what a comeback. What a difference maker Irelan is!

And make no mistake...as well as Cornell played defensively (and they played WELL)...we played equally as well. That's a team (Cornell) that is as much as an offensive juggernaut as the Danes. Great

Attendance 2715

that makes me just as thrilled as the comeback win.

Really I thought it was a much larger crowd than the first home game, just looked that way being up in the second deck and looking down and around. I have front row seats second deck sect 205

most upsetting thing is Cornell isn't even trying with the face-offs. They literally have said all game "you start". Problem is Danes can't finish. Either silly turnovers or Knight stops the shot.

My thoughts in talking to others and my son is that the boys were not making GOOD shots. Most were up in his stick - very few were low or bounces- the ones that were went wide by a few inches, hit the bar or bounced way over or were goals. I would not give a lot of that to their goal keeper - just our thought. Bad play all around for us for most of the game. Yes the #1 brings it on. Cornell was being extremely aggressive from the gate, getting away with some of it too. The one Ierlan was knocked to the ground from the back and there was a scrum. Might be good from one point of view - Maryland will be coming at them, Nanticoke was frustrated a lot - could not get free and they did not pass the ball to him much. He has to learn to get clear of a good defender. Not sure why they kept having Patterson run the offense from in front of the net [three unforced bad passes] instead of letting Fields direct from behind the net - ALWAYS seems to work better - and it did near the end of the game.

Of course Field tripped and gave up the ball twice I think

The high pressure defense from an above average D is something we will need to overcome in order

to make it through the final four.

Great to see the boys turn up the juice at the end. Thanks to Ierlan.

We were holding our breath - the crowd was going wild - VERY LOUD the last 3 minutes. I agree 100% - Maryland will come at them with aggression and a great D. Of course our D did well too I thought. Most of their goals were one on one and our Def just plain got beat! When you win the ball you can NOT have so many unforced turnovers. 7-10 unforced - could have been goals who knows - That DID lead to less goals than we should have scored. Also guys playing like crap and letting Cornell players knock the ball out of their stick numerous times. Let to scrambles and scrums - got the ball some time, lost it others. Like my son said - they looked like they had been out drinking last night and were hung over!!!

So we left Albany after being up there for last night's debacle and drove past the stadium as the lacrosse game was starting. I couldn't talk the wife and kids into staying because my kids had their last ski lesson this afternoon. I did watch most of the game when it worked on my phone and had to shut it down at 9-7 with 3 mins left. I thought for sure we lost. When I got here to the ski hill I checked and saw the final and was amazed. I really wish we stayed for the game!!!

Awesome job with the comeback by the team!

YES to that, big mistake looking past ANY team these days. Go look at the Official scores for all of the games played in March - MANY teams look about even. PLUS look at vermont - they are tough this year!

From UAlbany lacrosse Twitter account.

Stat change: Video review shows that TD Ierlan had possession, shown by referee, on a previously awarded faceoff to Cornell, then a turnover. Ierlan was 24-for-24 on faceoffs today.

Yep I just posted above. I did not think he lost any.

TD Ierlan goes 24 for 24 at faceoffs, and the game is close? I am no LAX pundit, but is it not fair to say that Cornell outplayed us big time by keeping it so close despite losing all those faceoffs?

We outshot them 40-33, got more ground balls even not counting face offs, they had four failed clears while we only had one. Cornells only advantage was five fewer turnovers, and a hot goalie who made 19 saves to JDs 7

It is not easy being number one. Giant bullseye every week. I think last year the number went down multiple times
