  • Eli changed the title to Game #6: 11/21/22 - 12:00PM vs Austin Peay (Sunshine Slam)

So disappointed with this team . They are so boring. I was such a supporter of Killings when he was hired.  Boy was I wrong.

Thought he was a recruiter (nope). Thought he would bring the team together with positive energy (nope, just physically pushes kids). Bensons record of hiring is atrocious.  So disappointing.

When does this UA team realize that they aren't a three point shooting team and focus on penetration?

Maybe when they hire a new coach...in all seriousness...they are ranked 163rd in the country in terms of 3pt efficiency believe it or not.

Can’t tell too much from live stats but it was neck and neck until Marcus Jackson got a FT and teed up on the same play. Four made free throws a missed UA trey and a made trey by AP turned it around. And the Danes collapsed.

Looking at the score it doesn’t look close at all. It did show they were leading at the half by 2. How deep was it into the game where this happened?

Maybe when they hire a new coach...

Unless the lawsuit brings out more proof of wrongdoing, I'm not calling for a new coach yet. It takes time for a new coach to figure stuff out. It took brown 5 years before he won. Obviously DK is in a different spot than Brown was, but I have some patience with his growth as a coach.

I'd just like to see some more in game adjustments made. Injuries have handcuffed the talent both seasons so far. A good coach will fight through those, identify the strength and weaknesses the team has, and make the adjustments needed to maximize the results. It takes time for a head coach to understand how to do that early in their career.

In my mind, this team needs to spend more time attacking the rim to open up the outside. Getting to the line more often. Remember the days when the goal was to make more foul shots than the other team attempts? Do that and the threes are easier to make.

Killings biggest weakness right now is the ability to calm the team down and get them to fight through another teams run and counter punch. Continue to play their game without panicking and moving to hero isolation ball. It's been on display in the last 10 minutes if the Siena game, the first 10 minutes of the St. Joe's game, and the last 10 minutes of this game. We've had no answer to stop the bleeding. If you have the talent, and I believe this team does, then this is 100% on the coach.

Tied at 57 and we lose by 15, 74-59? Outscored 17-2 in crunch time? 2 technical fouls? Total collapse by a poorly coached team. Reddish stares down the opposing bench after an early basket? Why? Undisciplined. Technical fouls remind me of Coach Gattuso’s team with their many unnecessary roughness penalties. Again, undisciplined. Also, I like Beagle as much as everyone, he gets to the foul line, but is shooting FT’s like Blake Metcalf, % wise. Will this improve as the season wears on? Hope so.

UA was up 6 a few minutes earlier. UA scored only 2 points in the last 5 minutes.

If the 10 minute streak of terrible play continues, the first 5 minutes of tomorrow night are going to be rough.

Might be the optimism on my part, but seems like this is something that can be corrected. If the team was getting blown out every game from beginning to end then it would be a bigger problem.
