Not a fan of calling any of the players garbage. They are student athletes. Bitch and moan about the coaches, the staff, the administration, and the refs all you want. They are paid to do a job and do it well. Critiquing a players decision or in game actions is fair play IMHO, but calling a kid garbage who chose to wear the purple and gold and compete in the name of the #purplefam is too much for me. These kids work their butt off. Jackson hustles like no kid I've seen before and just really hurt himself while hustling and trying to keep the teams energy up. He was pretty good today and the injury really set the team back when they were clawing back from the first deficit. Reddish is still a project and kind of a head case, but he's still one of, if not the, most gifted athletes we have had on the team. He is much better this year than last year and has been improving leaps and bounds. He just needs to keep a cool head and not let the emotions cause T's and misplaced aggression. I was really looking forward to seeing his junior season as I thought he could be all league. Figured he would transfer after that season.

That's fine, maybe garbage is too strong a word...but the point remains, they are not good basketball players. One wasn't recruited D1 and scores 2ppg and the other even if he can jump out of the gym, is an emotional hemophiliac who hurts you as often as he helps you. The basketball world is littered with energy guys or jump out of the gym guys that can't play basketball. The problem is DK has entire roster of this type of talent. No one plays any defense, no one can shoot....but hey, they try hard. Don't get me started on Little....all the bigs outside of Beagle are brutal to watch. I have no idea what the plan was. Loss of Neely really really hurts....

I know this is cliche but kids can join the Army at 18. Drink at 21. Garbage is not a terrible word at all . I turned 22 and got a job of authority.  I have been called wayyyyy worse than garbage.

Truth is there is no "talent" on this team.  Now have the freshman (now sophomores) improved .....yes, but they were so bad last year, outside of Neely, there was no way to go but up.

We are a bad bad team, however I can see them improve in conference, mostly because there are some bad AE teams.  Hoping for a .500 record.

Drumgoole and Davis were harshly double teamed. The scouting report said that was who to focus on defensively - and they were smothered. That was FAU's game plan. In order to have a shot in this game we needed others to step up. Patel did. Surprisingly Edmead did. Little is still an enigma. Looks incredible one game, can't hit the broad side of a barn the next. I think it's a confidence thing with him. Get the first few to fall and he is fine. Hasn't shown the ability to fight through adversity yet.

This is Hutch's fourth year on the team. He has been fairly terrible in the OOC every season, but plays hard and has always done well come conference play.

Never thought we could win this game without Neely and Reddish playing well, but I put the final score of this game 100% on Killings. Once again he failed to call a time out and settle the team down when FAU went on their run. Gotta find a way to get a stop and a point. 15-0 runs late in the second half will kill any chances. This is another game that was completely different from the final score and erasing a 10 minute stretch changes the way the game looks when it's over. That's on the coaching staff.

Little is not an enigma...he stinks...he's played in 8 games, in 4 of them he's scored zero points....the other 2 he scores 5pts combined. He's shooting 39% from the field in solid minutes. He's unplayable. One good game against St. Joes... no idea what you do with him as you need minutes out of someone.

Edmead is an even worse train wrack...he has by far the highest utilization of possessions (30.9%) and has one of the worst offensive ratings on the team (63%) by comparison Davis has a 101 ORating...only one worse is Will Amica. You start by sitting Edmead until he gets it through his head that he has ZERO business using 30% of the possessions of this team when he's in... with how $ienaty of a shooter he is. The guy is 7-22 from the field for a blistering 31.8%, can't make a FT to save his life 33% from the line, his 10min a game is a complete loss...kid comes in and thinks he's gonna light everyone up. Just bad coaching....

To each his own. I'm not the police of the board, and everyone is free to post their thoughts. That's what we do as fans. I always wear my purple and gold glasses and root for who we have. They chose to come here. I'll talk about their play on the court, and make criticism where it's due, I just don't like saying "they are garbage" instead I'll say they need to sit because they aren't helping the team or they are playing like garbage. Subtle difference, but still different. They chose to join the purplefam and I'll treat them like my brother or my son. Talk about how they can improve or what they are doing wrong, but I do keep it as positive as possible.

I'm a Yankee fan, but I don't subscribe to the whole boo Aaron Judge when he sucks in the playoffs. While he is on my team he is family. The argument they are paid millions and deserve to be booed by the home fans holds no water to me. That's your team.

Again, coaches, administrators, and refs are a different story.

I was different on this board 10 years ago, but then I was at a fraternity party / alumni weekend and spoke with a player over a beer and they talked about several players on the team that couldn't stop reading this board and us fans had gotten in their head. The player I'm referencing will remain nameless, but they are one of the best we ever had. Yup they are adults playing D1 basketball and criticism is part of the deal blah blah blah, but again... Family.

Me calling them garbage wasn't appropriate...that's my bad! To be clear, I was referencing their ability to play basketball but that's still too harsh.

Suffice it to say that the present team, as constituted and coached, is not very good. There seems to be some hard play, but whether it’s good play I’ll leave to the hoops experts. There’s athletic kids for sure, but whether they are skilled enough at basketball to be playing D1 is still an open argument. What’s most troubling is inconsistency and a seeming lack of ability to stop runs by the opponent. And I lay that mostly at the feet of the coaching staff. It’s just a continuation of the erosion of success by the three core men’s teams.

Look at them play defense... especially for how athletic some of these kids are. They can't stop a nose bleed. They have the appearance of playing hard but the numbers tell a different story. Badly coached on both ends.

From my view, this year's team like last year's team disappears for about 16 minutes a game with no scoring and limited effective defense.  With Neely gone for the year and Marcus Jackson starting his first game, then suffers a shoulder injury attempting to make a play on the ball which required him to knock over the Florisa Atlantic player ...sadly that is what unfolded.... at least Killings did not have the deer in the highlights look.  Lastly, Killings is not one of the solutions for this team's shortcomings.

Just watched Bryant.  They are going to KILL US (Figuratively not literally.....lol). They are so well coached.  Excellent players. A program on the rise.

When Joseph Girad III committed to Syracuse, he never imaged losing to a schools like Bryant University and Colgate University in an OOC schedule in the same year ... how the mighty have fallen ... could see the wheels coming off the bus at the end of last season however looks like Syracuse needs more than tires, perhaps a new engine and driver.

I have marked January 11 (Wed) 7:00 PM on my calendar as we play in Smithfield RI.

For what it's worth; for the most part I have to agree with Clack, that this is NOT a very talented team and at best is made up almost entirely of DII & III kids. Only real DI talent IMHO Beagle, Drumgoole, Neely & Jackson {got to disagree with Clack on this one}. A couple games back I posted MY player by player analysis but took it down when no one seemed to want to join in on the fun. Since, many on this thread now seem to be into it; here is my 2¢:

Roger Wyland was going ga-ga yesterday over Patel & Edmead, saying they were bright spots. In truth, like pretty much most everyone on this roster, they both just had a fluke game. IMHO they will regress to the mean, that being DII for Patel and DIII for Edmead. Everyone got excited about Davis with 32 vs lcc, has done pretty much nothing since, or really even before [DII+ player at best.]. Never did understand all the excitement over Reddish--can't shoot, poor defense, doesn't rebound, always/mostly in the wrong spot and looks confused--OK I'll give him a lower DI for athleticism & he has a famous brother. I'll keep Hutch DI only because of his experience, and toughness, and he rebounds the hell out of the ball, even though he is slow and undersized. Amica who KNOWS what he is?? Not another on the roster even close to being or becoming a DI player IMHO.

As for DK, I'm still reserving judgement on his coaching overall. Got to give him some credit for getting this misfit (hope that is not as bad as "garbage") line-up for playing hard. Got to give a big negative for putting this misfit line-up together, and for in game adjustments, and opponent scouting and game prep/Plan.

Did Killings just say what I think he did in the post game? Unless I misheard, he just said Justin Neely will be back next year but he has to "work on" and isn't sure about Jackson and Reddish? Was Reddish really out sick or is there something else going on?

Yes, I heard this too. Like you, I was/am not sure if he was referring to the Present or Future when talking about Jackson & Reddish injuries & absences?? Might have been just a misstatement in the heat of the moment????
