Game #11: 12/10/22 - 2:30PM at Providence

LOL. This boxscore is pathetically said. Out rebounded by nearly 20. Less than 30% shooting (meanwhile Providence was above 50%). Single digit assists. Took 30 3's. THIRTY! 3! 0! HALF OUR SHOTS! What the hell is DK smoking?

This is an abject failure. Another bad contract we are stuck with. Benson 0-2. Benson, DK, Gattuo, Benson's left and right hand henchmen...ALL need to be fired.

We are 1-8 against D1. Pathetic.

This is the D3-esque egg we lay on 'national television' (something UA social media managers were touting this week). We are literally a D3 team compared to any respectable mid-major D1 team. GARBAGE.

I didn't watch much of this game, just a few minutes late in the first half. We got blown out. If anyone did watch: what did you see. I don't see many comments on the game play. The box score only shows 8 players took the floor. I know some people have been tough on Ketner, but I think he has done fairly well with his size as a role player. He didn't play at all.

Did the team stick to game plan to work on getting better against higher level opponents or was it a chuck fest? 6-30 from 3 is... Well it's less than ideal.

I'm sure lots of negatives can be said. Anything positive to take from the game? My favorite quote is always: there is no lose. Either you win or you learn something.

Only 8 players dressed due to injuries and the flu bug that hit the team.  Not good when playing  a well coached Big East team.  Drumgoole threw up 14 threes, hitting 5, may have felt he needed to provide the scoring with thin bench.  Hutch chucked up 7 threes, missed every one.  Amica played 9 min with zero points, still trying to get accustomed to D1 ball?  Killings not trusting him with the offense yet?  Beagle struggled with their size inside going 3 for 11.  Reddish did okay due to his athleticism matching some of theirs.

One bright spot, we hit 11 of 13 FTs!!

Not surprisingly, coverage in the the Times Unioin regulated to the back pages, B6, with the results of other schools:

Providence used a balanced attack to crush the University at Albany 93-55 Saturday in a nonconference men’s basketball game in Providence, R.I.

Six Friars scored in double figures, led by Ed Croswell, who finished with 18 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field.

Gerald Drumgoole Jr. led the Danes (3-8) with a game-high 19 points. UAlbany has lost four straight.

Providence went on an 18-4 run midway through the first half and never looked back. Devin Carter scored seven of his 11 points in the run and highlighted the spurt with a traditional three-point play. The Friars (8-3) shot 55 percent from the field in the first half while holding the Danes to 27 percent and took a 42-25 lead into halftime.

UAlbany mounted a mild rally early in the second half with an 8-2 run. Drumgoole knocked down a 3-pointer to pull the Danes within 49-35 less than three minutes in, but Providence countered with an 11-2 run to snuff out the gains by UAlbany.

Providence dominated on the scoresheet in other ways, outrebounding UAlbany 48-30 and leading the entire game. They shot 54 percent from the field while shutting down the Danes (28 percent).

Sorry I'm with those who have been/are tough on Ketner. As I recall he did not even start playing BB, until a Sophomore & Junior in High School.  While I certainly respect your opinion, he has been a project since day 1. Was a walk-on last year and only offered a scholie at the end of the year [after the fiasco with Fizaluch NOT getting his promised scholie {not that I'm saying these have anything to do with each other.}] But IMHO Ketner did not show me anything last year and I've seen every home game including scrimmages & P&G scrimmage; and still am un-impressed.

But to answer your question, he did not dress yesterday--part of the mysterious "illness" going around UA BB.

It's not really mysterious. It's an allergy. We are allergic to winning. It's a virus prevalent in both the MBB and FB locker rooms evidently.

One would think the team would have vaccinated with the most current Flu and Covid shot protocols.

Or maybe...they don't work. :)

Eli .... do not recall from past posting whether you believe in the vaccine regiments for COVID, Flu, Shingles and other shots recommend for the different age groups .... Since start of the COVID regiments, I have had twelve jabs and except for one brief period, I have remind well .... so I have concluded they work and are safe for most people

In the name of Arch B. Swain I ask that you guys NOT start debating Covid or vaccines. Or Covid vaccines. This season has been hard enough already without that.

If you did it in the sake of Christ or Pete, I wouldn't be able to guarantee it. But since you did it in the name of Arch B. Swain, I must oblige.

(I wasn't planning on it really though, my comment was more facetious/sarcastic in nature)
