The SFU players can make the jump from 355 to 347 according to KenPom. Why would they want to come to a dumpster fire where the best players are leaving and the head coach is operating under a cloud? Scholly $?

To play. If Beagle goes to a power conference next year it clearly shows if you put up numbers here you can get to the next level. Cloud seems to be moving away from DK as the case looks to be thrown away. It’s a matter if he chooses to jump ship and leave now on his own.

How do you remove the cloud from this past season record and the fact that we failed to reach our conference tournament?  Further, I do not see DK leaving on his own accord, with three years left on his six-figure contract.  Is there a Transfer Portal for fans and supporters of broken college sports programs?

The "cloud" can be both a cause and at least a partial effect of the failure this year. The two things are intricately connected. It most certainly had to affect the coaches ability to coach and had to have an impact on the players. It was a major distraction minimally and IMHO at least one of a number of causes for the past disastrous season. The list is long:  bad coaching, bad players, injured players, sefcu renovation, bad administration (men's basketball far from the only UA team falling on hard times--Volleyball also first time ever NOT making the AmEast tournament.)

To equate UA's BB year 100% on DK's shortcomings, some actual & some perhaps only perceived, is disingenuous IMHO.

I personally would like to see what he can do with the "cloud" distraction lifted from his shoulders and with a healthy lineup, a quality freshman class and some help from the portal. We all have seen what the portal can do for teams; why NOT for DK & UA??

ps As for him leaving, with the support he's gotten from the UA administration (which has been cover your own a$$ at best) and lack of support from most of this community assuming guilt {without proof or a shred of evidence}; YEH I for one could see him leaving and I, would NOT blame him,

You try again next year to learn something from this and keep moving forward. It was just a disaster last year, the legal issues, Neely tearing up knee...some rough recruiting. No doubt about it, it was horrible but what choice does he have but try and do better?

Although not a huge deal, but not playing on your home games at home has to have some affect.

I started chuckling to myself when I had a passing thought wondering if Killings would attempt to reach out to Joseph Girard III, never would have thought Girard III would leave Syracuse with eligibility left; however, who would ever thought Syracuse would handle the existing of Jim Boeheim as poorly as they.

GIRARD

Syracuse guard Joseph Girard III, the former Glens Falls High star, announced Friday “after much consideration and reflection” he is entering the NBA draft process while maintaining his college eligibility.

Girard tweeted he will also enter the NCAA transfer portal to keep his options open and gather as much information as possible.

“From the time I was a little kid, I’ve been committed with a relentless pursuit to play the game of basketball at the highest level,” Girard said in a Twitter post. “My focus has been and continues to be living out that dream.”

Girard, a senior, has one season of college eligibility left because of the extra year granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He scored 1,652 points over 125 games during his Syracuse career, an average of 13.2 points per game. He also had 445 assists, an average of 3.6 per contest.

Syracuse went 17-15 this season and missed the NCAA Tournament. Orange coach Jim Boeheim stepped down after the season to end his 47-year tenure. Syracuse promoted associate head coach Adrian Autry to head coach.

“I want to express my utmost gratitude to my family, coach Boeheim, and Orange Nation for the past four seasons,” Girard tweeted. “Thank you to every fan and supporter who has impacted me in a positive manner and has helped me shape who I am today. I am confident in God’s plan and trust that the next chapter will be amazing.”

Efforts to reach Girard, his father, and Boeheim were unsuccessful.

“I can’t thank @JG3 enough for the passion and dedication he’s shown Syracuse these last four years,” Autry tweeted. “I’m excited for him to continue his basketball career, and I am forever grateful for the impact he’s had on this program.”

Girard is the state’s all-time high school scoring leader with 4,763 points. He led Glens Falls to the Class B state title in 2019.

OK Ketner now gone--sort off.

Signed onto football team as a tight-end; Gattuso immediately moved him to defensive end.

Would this be an overstatement of Ketner's thoughts ... "love the school, if I want to find success in athletes here, I will have a better chance with the football team at this point".  If so, it speaks to how difficult the MBB situation is.

From the fire into a frying pan...dude literally managed to find the two biggest losers to play for. LOL...absolutely hilarious.

At least now he gets a trip to O’ahu out of it - unless Hawai’i limits the size of the travel squad they pay for.

Per the Daily Gazette, Freja Werth, Karyn Sanford, and Taylor Moffat have entered the Transfer Portal.

Helene Haegerstrand, Morgan Haney, Grace Heeps, Taniya Hanner, and Fatima Lee are all graduating and have not yet announced whether they will be returning next year.

Lucia DesCortes and Ellen Hahne have used all of their eligibility.

That leaves Kayla Cooper, Lily Philips, Abby Ray, and Marie Sep and four incoming freshmen.

Guess this headline didn't age too well:

UAlbany women's basketball sophomore Werth is 'future' of Great Danes

The Transfer Portal has become for most D1 men and women players, the empowerment tool of choice.  If a student-athlete has a post season discussion with their coach concerning the season past and the student-athlete's prospects for the future which does not chive with that student-athlete's perception of themselves, you can count heavily on the student-athlete giving consideration to the Transfer Portal.  Furthermore, many student-athletes are asking themselves, "Can I do better than what I am doing now?"  The Transfer Portal has weakened the sense of team, which once surrounded many programs.

It's effectively collegiate free agency. I wish there were some guard rails around it though because right now it's basically a free for all.

Like, play 2 years to get 1 transfer portal chance. Play 3 to get something.
