Orlando, Fla. – The America East Conference announced on Tuesday, June 24 that the University at Albany had the highest team grade point average among the conference’s men’s basketball programs. The Great Danes, who tied for second in the America East regular-season standings, posted a 2.89 cumulative GPA.

Brian Lillis, a senior guard from Urbandale, Iowa, and Brian Connelly, a junior forward from Audubon, N.J., were previously selected to the conference’s all-academic team. Lillis was named the America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year in men’s basketball for the 2007-08 academic year. An ECAC Merit Medal recipient, Lillis was chosen to the ESPN The Magazine District I all-academic squad. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree in business administration, Lillis took a position with Allstate Insurance as a financial analyst.
