As of press time, Forrest City’s 5A-East conference matchup at Helena-West Helena was still on for tonight.

Forrest City Athletic Director Dr. Rodney Echols said his office is keeping an eye on the weather, which could produce icy conditions across the state tonight, but said a decision won’t be made until mid-afternoon.

So for now, Forrest City is one the road.

And it is a huge road game for the Mustangs, who remain on top of the 5A-East boys standings at 4-0, still ranked first in Class 5A and fourth in the state.

The Mustangs are coming off a big home win over Paragould Friday while Helena-West Helena (3-1) is licking its wounds after losing by three Friday at home to Greene County Tech, also 3-1.

“As far as first half conference games go, tonight is a big one for us,” said Forrest City coach Dwight Lofton. “Helena-West Helena has been playing very well, even though their overall mark (5-7) might not reflect that. We have to be taking them as a serious threat and not suffer a letdown.”

The Mustangs take a five-game win streak into tonight’s game.
