That’s nice way of saying he was getting canned which he was for putting that kid back in the game after he said what he said to Amos & he knew snout it. 17 years got him that

His program is notorious for this type of bull$iena.  I live not to far from Andover and his demeanor, which goes down to the team, is beyond bro like.  Glad he got the hook.

Chuckle all they want.  They picked up a boardline D1 player. Have not been to the tournament in 15 years.  Lost to us by 30 last year. Their atheltic department as a whole is an absolute failure and could not even hold our jock strap.

Jackson is not a borderline D1 player.  Agree with the rest.  Borderline hyperbolic statement.

Is at Spring camp as an early Freshman,  Looks good too!

Excellent news.  Those I spoke to about him at the HS level said he's special, he just needed to put on some weight and deal with the speed of the game (both not unexpected at this level).

Way I see it, I would suppose it's a two way battle between Myles and Trey...with Van getting third team reps, and next year a battle for number 2 (presuming Myles doesn't beat out Trey, tear it up, and move on to an FBS school).

BTW, really good friends with folks in the UM program, high level close-up to the program.  He's had a vanilla, but good camp.  He had a mixed performance in the spring game, hitting an absolutely beautiful long ball and missing on a wide open receiver.  Jacurri Brown transferred, meaning he is solidly in the group of three, with Ward as the starter and Poff/Williams vying for #2.

So many 3 and 4 star recruits are transferring at key positions (like Brown).  As much as we are a feeder program now, if we EMBRACE IT, Albany could have consistently wonderful years as kids will either want to start here and shine or drop down, shine, and move on.  For all of our initial worries about the staff, and they were valid in many respects and irrational in other ways, this staff (starting with Gattuso) is excellent at recognizing raw talent and molding them. I think we finally settled on an offensive scheme that works, which is great.

Personally, as much as i can't stand what has happened to college sports and it is ultimately driving out really good people before there time is up (Saban, eventually Gattuso, etc.), we are positioned to handle it well...and I think Coaching staff consistency is a HUGE key as it is the ultimate selling point at our level as kids ask, "Can you get me to my next spot, my dream...a NIL package or a shot at P2 school".

ps. Ncaa passed  today making it official no waiting for multi year transfers, as long as they are academically eligible 😪😪

There will be so many kids without a degree, it's not even funny.  Honestly, it is not college sports anymore.  The amount of students who benefit from this massive 4 year upheaval is minute.   The ones that suffer, long term, is a rather large group.

  5. We have an onsite visit report "sighting".  6'7 kid from Iona coming up this weekend.  Will be a sophomore, from London, U.K. and...shocker...he played HS ball in Philly.  (Really good Catholic league school).  Was pretty highly recruited out of high school.  Played only 14mpg as a frosh averaging 3ppg and 3.2 RPG.

    Sultan Adewale

His big offensive performances came against LBSU, Buffalo, Fairfield, St. Peter's, Rider, and St. Francis.

Interesting player...a bit raw in some areas but he has some solid potential.

Use the duck duck go browser. Once you hit the free article limit, just hit the burn history button and you are good for another 2-3 articles.

Haven't tried it yet...is the browser safe?  I have been tempted but it looks too good to be true.  You have had no probems?

As for killings, barring an NCAA run i don't think he's getting a new contract.

Newton played a great offensive game.  I wanted to say that.

FIRE KILLINGS.  FIRE KILLINGS now. He is terrible.

Up 1 with the ball out of a timeout with 57 seconds left and Killings draws up nothing.  A contested 3. Terrible.

Vermont calls timeout and their coach draws up a wide open 3.

Timeout by Killings. And they don't even get a shot off.

They won't fire him but he needs to go.  Terrible coach.  Today was not on the team . It was on that pathetic coach.

Two glaring "Clueless" Killings moves today, both involving Thomas.

    1. Putting him in with 40 or so seconds to go in the first with three fouls.  Sorry, getting a fourth foul on a potential charge (and that is a reasonable event that could occur due to his playing style) is not worth going up 3 or 4 (I forget the exact score) heading into the second half.  Absolutely Binging stupid rookie coaching movie; and

    2. Thomas' bad side showed in the last 100 seconds...forcing way too much and trying to play hero ball.  I get it, he's the man on the team...but DK (as you allude) had a TO with less than a minute remaining, yet he didn't use it appropriately.  Anyone who has coached high school and higher knows that in that situation, on the road, you use the TO to calm your leader...and get a play set.

    FIRE KILLINGS...GUY IS A CHARLATEN.

    Two questions:

    1.  Given the stats above how many minutes should Beagle get?

    2.  How many minutes would Beagle get at UVM?

UVM has crushed this league for years.  To say he wouldn’t get many minutes there is unfair.  How many would he get at the other 6 teams ahead of us?

I get it he’s not a superstar.  But in the AE, given his performance the last 8 games, I see no reason he wouldn’t fight for a starting job or first big off the bench on teams not named UVM.  It sucks but we can’t compare ourselves w UVM.

Fair question.  1- He should get all the minutes he got for us because even with his downfalls, which include horrific defense and inconsistent movement on offense that stopped him from getting good positioning, he still averaged an EASY double double.  2- He would get maybe 20-25 a game at UVM precisely because of his lazy defense and inability to be consistent on offense.

Quite frankly, Beagle disappointed me as a player. He has all the tools in his arsenal (I think?!) to be a 20 and 8 guy.  He really did not take a jump this year and it starts with defense.  His defense was atrocious...and that's being polite.  On paper, he has all the tools to become a top 30-40 all-time AE Big....maybe even a higher ceiling than that.  However, he progressed this year from last year merely on talent alone and not because of effort.

Can some of that be a team conflict situation with Amare, Sebastian, and Beagle not wanting to share the ball?  No idea.  If it was, then that is on Killings who should have recruited around Beagle.  Again, all speculation.  However, there is absolutely ZERO reason that Beagle, Thomas, and Marshall...on paper, should have all been int he Top 15 players of the league...and could have easily contributed a combined 55-60 ppg offensively, regularly.

If Beagle's lack of progression was due to my last paragraph, then it is primarily on Killings and Beagle, with some fault to Thomas and Marshall.  If it was lack of effort, then that is just on Beagle.  However, he literally DID NOT progress this year and any team worth their salt figured him out. Kid couldn't pass out of a double team if he had a 5 foot passing lane in front of him.

Either way, to surmise the answer to your question--he would be a role player at Vermont, UVM, and Bryant the way those teams were constructed this year...and playing similar minutes as he did for us for UNH on down.

Clearly not Travis Charles but to think he’s only good for 5-10 minutes in the AE seems a bit much.  Scoring, rebounding, FG % and shot blocking he out performs Beagle statistically when given the chance.  He did this with no other big on the floor.   And this group (me included) thought Beagle was the man.

Defensively?  Not sure either one is a stopper.  Beagles height gives him a big advantage most likely.

    Fair points.

Not sure where you get that centers should shoot over 70%

There are only 9 players in the NBA that shoot over 60% from the floor and none over 70%.

Newton is not a 5. He shouldnt be a 5. He was forced into that role due to our big man leaving the program. We still have no idea why that happened and if we blame the kid for quitting or the coaching staff for being inappropriate, but I digress.

Newton had how many double doubles this year? IMO he was one of the bright spots on the team, doing a serviceable job in a position he had no business playing. He is fine playing the 4 if the team has another big on the floor. I loved his effort. Yes he missed some chippy shots, but so did everyone. His FG% was higher than Beagle's.

He is definitely a "fine" four for the AE, up to 10 minutes per game.  That's all.  Again, Killings put a $ienaty construction together for this team. Neely is not a 4, he's a 3.  So if he was hoping Neely was a 4, Beagle was a 5....well, issues with that construction.  We don't have a true 4.  To me, the starting line up (in a perfect world) would have been Thomas, Marshall, Neely, Reddish, and Beagle. Or replace Reddish with Jackson...but Jackson is NOT a 2.

Jackson, Bertram, Little, and a 4 that wasn't recruited by Killings, i.e. he miscalculated, would be the first four off the bench.  You give the Argentine kid or Margoupis some minutes at the 4/5.  And little comes in for a spark.  That's your squad.  Not having a true 4 was a huge problem.  Frankly put, Newton and Filiien are "break for an emergency" guys, situationally put in and averaging about 5 min a game each over a season.  Margoupis and Adnan should have been redshirted....and if you had a proper 4, you might be able to redshirt the Argentine. With respect to Matalu and Walker, they are just practice bodies.

That's my opinion.  Not having a proper 4 or 5 to come in...was absolutely horrendous recruiting.

Newton is the perfect 5 to 10 minute guy.  If he is playing anymore than that the team is in trouble.

Guess what? The team is in trouble.

Agreed...and he is NIOWHERE CLOSE to Travis Charles.  Not even in the same zip code. He seems like a good kid, but he is exactly what was said here-- 5 to 10 minute guy.  He is playing over his talent right now...his talent is a motor and eating up time. He also does a decent job of cleaning up bunnies.
