Absolutely.  And if the person you can get is a 7 foot project what will likely take 2 years to develop when you are a losing team, then sure.

But I can tell you that it's not a recipe for success.

For record I don't follow this player.  Just read what the "experts" are saying that he is very very raw. We don't get players of his size in our league unless they are. We should not be focusing on raw players on a losing team.

Jared Verse was very very raw as well...that's going to do nothing but help football...

I'm not sure attempting to sign a 7 foot project that has a 75 percent chance to leave if any good is such a great idea.

Unless we have having trouble filling our scholarships- which may be the case.

I prefer to sign guys that can help right now.  We have a ton of minutes left. If we were a winning team with a lot of depth then I could understand.

Shouldn't you just sign the best guys you can get? Think about this like football, in the new world, lower schools are a great place for guys to get polished and grow their game.  That can only help a team recruit, until they change the transfer rules (which I think after about 2 years, they will)

Sometimes the act of acknowledgement is important, Marcus Filien received that acknowledgement during the season.  Perhaps, an athletic scholarship from UAlbany meant little however, the change of scenery and opportunity meant more.

If there was a transfer portal for fans, I probably give strong consideration.

Was Marcus Fillien on a free ride regardless? Youre playing D1 basketball and you are going for free..not "officially" giving the scholarship helps your team bring in another out-of-state player.  Thats a no brainer to me.

After the year that he had, starting 18 games, over 22 mpg, great shooting percentage, hustling on D….if he wasn’t offered a scholarship it’s one more thing that reflects very badly on DK imho.

If he had an Empire Scholarship isn't that just budget management? The kid goes for free, so why not spend the money on outside of NY players.

My impression was that Coach Marr said that Landon had won the starting goalie job and was speaking about the season.  He said Landon was a Brett Queener type goalie.  Jack Van Valkenberg suffered 2 injuries in the fall and another this semester which required surgery and will be unavailable for at least 4 weeks.  Jack was the back-up goalie to Warren Hill on the Haudenosaunee Nationals in the 2023 World tournament.

Fun fact. Brett Queener is the lacrosse coach at my daughters school in Naples, Florida.
