  1. I'm on the fence for one reason alone. I think he should be able to finish this run out next year with the kids he brought in who will be seniors, (Logan, Black, Suero and Guerrier). Because of that I do not think he should get a long term contract. Maybe two years with a salary we are willing to eat next year if they don't make the run we should have with that group as seniors. Without injuries and some players coming back/in they should be even better next year.

I really like Will. I've had a few interactions with him and they have all been very pleasant. I think he and his staff recruit high quality student athletes. I think there have been some injuries and kids leaving that has hurt the program and the success he was trying to build. Just wanted to add this becaue I do like Will Brown.

Well, that changes my last post on this subject quoted here. He wasn't able to keep two of the four I mentioned above. Should not get this extension. I'm sorry. Time to turn the page.

  2. I am sticking to my --it is NOT a total disaster theory. But like everyone else I would LOVE to have him back. In that vein does anyone know if he has actually left the university and (2) can't he reconsider up to the point that he (a) hires an agent or (B) one day before draft day???

Does he actually think he will get drafted? He is nowhere near ready for the NBA or even the Dev League. I really don't even see him playing for a top level European league with his defensive and turnover problems. What could he really make in a lower level Euro league? He could get a lot more money and play in a much better league with another year of D1 ball under his belt. He could easily blow out his knee in his senior year and get no contract. I see both sides. Doesn't mean I agree with his decision. Maybe he has some offers already in Europe, we don't know the whole situation. Still think this is a disaster for the program. 24pts per game is going to be VERY hard to replace.

  3. This is a disaster. No other way to spin it. Total disaster.

That was my initial reaction as well...need to wait and see who they bring in with the remaining 'ships...I know I've said this before but I'd like to see the focus on recruiting JUCO's reduced significantly. It's now way to build a program/team. For every Hastings and Siggers we get an unstable group that either leaves, quits or not happy.

    Build with four year kids.

With a night to sleep on it, I stand by my comment. Total disaster. I hope I'm wrong and the coaches can bring in someone who can contribute but I don't see them bringing in a player of Suero's caliber, which makes him leaving a total disaster.

  4. @UAHOOPSWB The staff has been working hard to add a piece or 2 for next season. One will definitely be a BIG. Recruiting never ends.

Interesting.. one or TWO.. hmm speculation...

    Someone transfering? He also tweeted.

@UAHOOPSWB Player meetings went well today. Returning players are excited about next season.

Does that mean there are some or one that is not returning?

  5. I'm sorry but I think this is a bad decision. Will Brown has proven he cannot take this program to the next level. He had lightning in a bottle those two years with Jamar but since then we have been drifting in the doldrums of basketball mediocrity. With him in charge, we will never be consistently in the top tier of this league. This is disappointing.

  6. I agree with Clack, they should be throwing the University a nice lump sum of cash,

but I'd say more along the lines of over a million.

The university bends over backwards to accomodate training camp. From what I see,

we do gain some recognition as the host, but it doesn't really do much for me anymore.

The university's commitment to them should be rewarded.

I know that John Mara, like his father before him, reads every letter sent to him by fans. We should get a couple people to write some letters to him urging him and the Giants to make a donation to the stadium.
