Football championship game in 2005?

According to The Asbury Park Press the NEC is discussing a championship game for next year, whether 1st-2nd place teams or splitting the league into 2 divisions.

 

I-AA Championship playoff bid is "a couple of years away"- no kidding.

 

I don't see much point to a championship game as long as the league plays round-robin. Maybe if there were 12 teams on an 8-game league schedule, but not with less.

 

Could they be thinking about picking up the four weak MAAC teams, or even all five?
