Zoellner

Recommended Posts

Zoellner pulled a Clark Kent in first half as could not even grab a rebound but thank goodness came out like Superman in the second half dunking, ripping down rebounds, & even altering many shots. It was a great game to watch as kept thinking Siena would go ahead but UAlbany squashed all attempts. Iatti of course could not have played any better when it really mattered. Even last year w/ depleted lineup, UAlbany's players showed a lot of talent (as gave Vermont all they could handle at RACC last year). Watch out, UAlbany will be a force as should be very exciting year. Winning America East would probably be too much to expect, but NIT shot should not be a pipedream (especially if Pepsi Arena works into the equation). I wish UAlbany was playing Syracuse here on Saturday (as believe me, would be worried about being crushed as could be step backward but dare to dream) & also hoping Siena stays w/ them to an extent as only would make us look that much better. Seeing Zoellner slam down that ball was a beautiful thing.

"Der Big Man" will only get better as the season continues. Remember he played in almost no games for BC then transferred and sat another year and now he has played 2 games and has been a major factor in both for UA.

In each game he has started slowly, almost trying to avoid getting stupid fouls early and has been somewhat tentative only to jump into the "phone booth" at halftime and comes out flying in the second half.

By the way it was Zoellner who made the feed to Lucious inside on the play where Jordan and Ryan bumped each other late in the second half, a very nice pass for a big guy. Something go unnoticed at times but Kirsten is a solid passer.
