Jays drop district crown to top-ranked Bruins, 45-37

SEDALIA, Mo. - The Rock Bridge Bruins outscored the Jefferson City Jays 11-2 in the final five minutes to take a 45-37 victory in the title game of the Class 5 District 10 Tournament on Friday night.

With the win, the top-seeded and No. 1 ranked Bruins (25-1) advance to the sectionals against the Troy Trojans (25-4) at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Borgia High School in Washington.

Rock Bridge led 13-10 after one quarter, 23-20 at the half and 34-31 heading into the final period.

Coleman Chambly had 11 points to lead the third-seeded Jays (17-10), while Terrance Cosby added eight and Ryan Nilges chipped in with seven.

Logan Gray and Erik Darkow paced the Bruins with 14 points each. Brett Gifford added 10.
