UALBANY'S BRENT WILSON NAMED AMERICA EAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

Boston , Mass. – University at Albany ’s Brent Wilson has been chosen the America East Conference Player of the Week in men’s basketball, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, Jan. 2. Wilson, a 6-foot-8 junior, becomes the third different UAlbany player to receive the America East’s weekly award this season.

 

Wilson averaged 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds as the Great Danes split a pair of games on their recent trip to Utah . He shot 66.7 percent of the field on 14-of-21 attempts, plus made 4-of-10 from three-point range.

 

He put together a 22-point, nine-rebound performance in UAlbany’s 59-58 upset victory over Utah on Dec. 28. Wilson, who made 9-of-14 from the floor, and canned four 3-point shots, sealed the outcome with a steal and an offensive rebound following a missed free throw over the final 10 seconds. He also totaled 13 points and eight rebounds at Utah Valley State on Dec. 30, plus tied a career-high with three steals.

 

A native of Cedar Rapids , Iowa , Wilson owns a six-game, double-figure scoring streak. He is averaging 17.0 points and shooting 71.4 percent from the field (40-of-56) in that span. UAlbany (7-5) is off to its best start as a Division I program.
