exhibition games

i was reading the albany blog on the times union site and stumbled upon this:

 

UAlbany will not have any exhibition games, although they will hold closed scrimmages at home against Long Island University on Oct. 27 and at St. John’s of the Big East on Nov. 3.

 

now i understand if these scrimmages are closed to the public but i find it sort of cool that we have the opportunity to play against somewhat better D1 teams. i mean st johns is still rebuilding and i know nothing about LIU. so we have to take the experience and prepare the future of the great danes, post jamar era, and stay atop of the america east for as long as we can. i have a good feeling about this year.

IIRC, we had a closed scrimmage against UMass last year as well. While fans certainly enjoy an exhibition more, as it gives us a chance to see them in 'competition,' it quite likely benefits the team more to play against teams like these.
