"We have completed six practices and the players are working extremely hard. Billy Allen and Jon Iati have not practiced and Brent Wilson and Reid Anderson are both trying to get in to basketball shape. Both have missed extensive time the past few months dealing with injuries. We have not been able to substitute during practice since we’ve never had more than 10 players able to practice. We are trying our best to make sure that we give the 10 players enough time to rest and rinse during practice. With that being said, we do not have much time to waste as we open up on November 10th at Bucknell.

"This group has been very physical and they are competing at a high level. We need to continue to develop the necessary chemistry to be successful. Chemistry is always an issue when you add six newcomers to a program. We continue to stress the importance of defense, rebounding, and communication. Those are three keys to our success.

"We have not let up at all in the weight room. We are spending a lot of time in the weight room and it is paying dividends for us. All of the players are getting bigger and stronger. Most programs cut back or stop lifting once the season starts. We will make sure that we get three lifts in each week during the season. We also want to make sure the each player continues to reduce body fat, maintain or increase body weight, and increase the amount of weight that they lift. I don’t buy in to the theory that in-season lifting is all maintenance work. I don’t want to just maintain. I want us to continue to improve.

"Former Great Dane Lucious Jordan was in a car accident in Holland last week. He was recently released from the hospital and is feeling better. He is hoping to return home in the next week to give his body a chance to heal. He was thrown 35 ft. from the car. He is very fortunate!."
