This news item appeared on the Fox 23 website:

"St. Bonaventure learned on Monday that freshman forward Da'Quan Cook has been ruled ineligible for the 2007-2008 season.

"I't's unfortunate that Da'Quan can't participate this season because he's an outstanding player and an even better kid,' said Bonnies head coach Mark Schmidt. 'I have no doubt that Da'Quan will come through this as an even stronger person and be ready for next season."'

"Cook averaged 13.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, leading his Virginia high school to a state final four appearance.

T"he school, nestled in the western part of the New York's southern tier, is no stranger to sanctions, as the fallout from an academic scandal involving a junior college transfer in 2003 rocked the program. "
