Livia Gherman defeated Jasleen Sandhu, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 1 singles, while also teaming up with Laine Mackey for a win at No. 1 doubles to lead UAlbany to a 7-0 sweep of crosstown-rival Siena on Tuesday afternoon at University Courts.

 

Gherman and Mackey combined for an 8-4 win over Sandhu and teammate Nicole Ross in doubles action. With an 8-4 win by Melissa Coughlin and Sarah Iannone over Jessica Asselin and Brittany Filip, the Great Danes took the doubles point. Siena's only win of the match came at No. 2 doubles, as Danielle Crill and Elora Benfer recorded an 8-4 win over Caitlyn Crowley and Susan Ma.

 

Ma and Crowley responded in singles play, each recording wins over their opponents. At No. 2 singles, Ma posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Crill, while Crowley finished strong with a 2-6, 6-2, 10-7 win over Ross at fourth singles. Mackey recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win over Asselin at No. 3 singles, while Iannone tallied a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Filip at the fifth position. Coughlin wrapped up the singles sweep for the Great Danes, defeating Benfer, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.

 

UAlbany will return to action on Sunday, April 25, visiting America East Conference foe Hartford at 10:30 a.m.
