NEC Release

The season’s first installment of the NEC’s weekly football awards program honors five men who all contributed to lid-lifting victories. Albany was the first NEC team to kick off the 2010 slate and received a career-high 129 rushing yards from NEC Offensive Player of the Week Andrew Smith in a 3-0 win at Maine. Making 13 tackles, NEC Defensive Player of the Week Nathan Totino was at the forefront of a Duquesne defense that allowed only 173 yards of total offense in a 17-13 triumph over Bucknell. The NEC Special Teams Player of the Week award goes to Bryant running back Jordan Brown whose 70-yard punt return for a touchdown helped the Bulldogs build a 20-0 lead in an eventual 44-30 win over Fordham. Two men share the NEC Rookie of the Week award. Bryant’s Jordan Harris made four receptions for 98 yards, including a 44-yard TD catch that opened the game’s scoring. Meanwhile, Sacred Heart’s Gregory Ibe logged 97 rushing yards and two scores to help carry Sacred Heart past Marist.
