1. I will also be there for every game of the tournament with a stop at Brooks in Oneonta at Friday at 2 and appoximately 1 1/2 after the end of Sundays game on the way back. I will be staying at Howard Johnson.

Bob you are a lucky dog, I can taste that chicken already.

If I was a deadlock for the weekend I'd ask you to get me 2 chicken dinners to go (one for me and one for the DaneGuy04) we love that Brooks BBQ!

  2. I don't know if my travel schedule will permit a trip to the AE tourney.

If I do make it, Sunday is the best possibility. I might have some luck talking my Great Dane Travel partner into driving to the 6pm Saturday night game at mach 3 from LI but due to his work schedule that is a long shot at best. (hint hint DaneGuy04).

If he does not have to work on Sunday I would be up for a nice leisurely drive up Route 17.

What is the story with ticket availability at the last minute since this is going to be a game day decision?

  3. Going into the AE tourney we need all of our guys fired up at 110% because expectations are so high (I admit it I am part of that expecting group as well).

Seeing Jon with a career high after the dismal UNH game is nice.

Nice to see Z in double digits as well, although the FO does not help and he can't play that kind of ball next weekend.

  4. This is such an old problem. It reminds me of the days of parking in the Colonial "Pit" when I was an undergrad!

Parking on campus in general is a nightmare. It is especially true for the athletics facilities!

Hopefully the "Master Plan" will be addressing some of these issues!

  5. Well I know that it has been mentioned a few times before but I have been close with the program since Coach Brown took the reigns and I lived much closer to the RACC.

The biggest standout in my mind about what a class act Coach Brown is was after the game at Stony Brook, it was the Friday before the holidays and myself and DaneGuy04 sat next to Rodger facing the Albany bench (and as we found out later in the game in front of Mrs. Iati) and after the game we walked over to Coach as Brian DeP. was trying to hussle him back to the locker room and he stopped and said to us, "Don't worry guys, we are going to get much better."

After the BPG myself and my hoops travel partner were near the court exit to the locker room and again Brian DeP. trying to keep the schedule on the rails with the media was hussling Coach back to the press conference and again he stopped to shake our hands and remembered what he said to us in Stony Brook by saying, "I told you we were going to get better!"

I know that this story has been repeated a few times on this board but I put it in this thread just in case Dr. Lee McElroy or President Kermit Hall would like to see it.

As I have said in my past few posts....

  6. After several attempts to find a bar on LI that actually subscribed to the Direct TV package we would up sitting in my office huddled around a 19 inch computer monitor watching on the internet.

Had I known that it was going to be so hard to find a place that paid to have ESPN-U I would have traveled to NYC or to the Pub in Guilderland for the game.

VERY exciting atmosphere having 5 people in my home office.

As was mentioned earlier the commentary on the VCU network sucked. They did not get Levi's name right until midway into the second half.

  7. I purchased the game through the VCU website, but it will not work, and their customer service is conveniently down.

Anybody else with the same problem, or with a solution?...

I'm in but the service sucks more than Siena!

I'm thinking about going to the FOX audio stream.

The clowns can even pronounce Levi's name correctly or the fact that CZ played at BC and not BU!

  8. I could not agree more with this thread. Coach Brown has grown a great deal in this job.

Let's rewind to a season where the Danes started out with a coach named Beeten, Brown came in mid-year took the reigns of a program that was struggling and still at the end of that season the fans were in the stands with Coach Brown faces taped to popsicle sticks urging the University to retain the services of Coach Brown. The fans in this town really like Brown based on the way he conducts himself on the sidelines (as evidenced at the BPG) and off the court. He is a class act all the way. Maybe we need to consider reviving the photocopied faces campaign to make our point. I just wish that the Vermont game was not on a Monday night and I can make the trip up to help the cause.

I would also like to point out that according ESPN's bracketology the Danes are predicted to go against a coach that came out of an America East team (at the time). Jay Wright coached at Hofstra, just a few blocks away from my hometown prior to coaching at Villanova. He is the same kind of well respected and classy guy that Brown is. This only increases Coach Brown’s position at the bargaining table should we make the dance.

I understand that there has been a great deal of chatter about the 'distraction' of working out a contract during the season and I understand it. I just wish that VP Coach McElroy and President Hall would not issue such neutral statements about the situation and just say that we don't want to interfere with the season by talking about the Coach's contract.

    Enough said?

    Signed,

  9. the alumni, fans of the program, and even student body should not be shy about mentioning their support of a contract extension for Coach Brown to Dr. McElroy and President Hall ... steady progress over the past few seasons, recruitment of student-athletes of quality character, has conducted himself as a complete professional (including his talent for speaking with the media), and from personal experience has been generous in making available his time and voice to speak with local youth on the importance of academic achievement and ethics on and off the playing fields ... no need to wait until after the AE tournament to reach a decision on a university offer ... Do the Right Thing

I could not agree more with this! It is time to get Coach Brown signed and put this behind the team BEFORE the AE Tourney.

No questions about next year, it is clear that no matter what happens he has proven himself. I have no idea what Doc McElroy and Pres. Hall are waiting on.

  10. I thought they were saying "sucks to BU", not FU BU....am I wrong on this?

    11627

You're correct there. But I think just about anywhere you go, you're going to hear "(Name of Opponent) Sucks." It requires little thoughts while you're watching the game and it for everyone on the other team. Plus, no one in thecrowd isn't going to not understand it or screw it up...especially when you have so many "new" students fans at a game like that one.

    11629

some people tried to start FU BU, but it didn't really catch on. I thought Sucks to B-U was pretty good. I also liked the Who's Your Daddy chant.

    11630

I liked the Who's your daddy chant as well. As for the Sucks to BU chant, my t-shirt did the talking for me on that one.

Great night at the RACC last night, well worth the 6 hours in the car round trip!

Coach Brown showed that he is a class act all around by addressing the crowd and by a statement that he made to me after the game.

It was great to see the students get behind the team!

Normally I don't post here because it is not my style bit I am so sick of the bullSiena on this topic...

Who cares about Siena except the one night a year that they drag us downtown like we are some Albany step children? When in fact it is the opposite, we are the Albany home team they are the visitor from the suburbs.

Previous poster pointed out the "NIT" factor. I agree it is the JV tourney and who really cares. Tony is still lamenting the departure of Lanier and can't make arguments about his team so now it makes it about the conference.

    WHO CARES???

I don't, I have made it clear that Albany is BUILDING a program and we will get an autobid within the next 3 years. Comparing a 'rebuilding' team to one building a program from scratch makes zero sense.

My conference RPI is bigger than your conference RPI, blah, blah, blah....

The only thing good about Siena is seeing them in the rear view mirror on the Northway...

    Go back to Loudonville Tony!

  12. Here is another overlooked fact in this game. The attendance at SBU was not so great.

This is a game that is played in the backyard of many of our UAlbany alumni (last statistic I saw is that outside of the Capital District, Albany-NYC is the largest segment of the Alumni Association). We (alums from LI/NYC) should be making a better effort to get out and support our team on the road.

I know that we were up against a holiday weekend but I still think we can do better as Alumni to support this team.

Just 2 cents from the (former) guy in Section 650....

PS. I sat in front of the Iati family... great folks... They made it all the way from PA, I think that a few alums can make it from Nassau and Suffolk Counties!

  14. It was great to be back at the RACC for my first trip since leaving Albany for job reasons. For the regulars from the times of the Private Pound you should be able to guess who I am by my name.

Needless to say Section 600 still felt great and I miss home games very much.

But, the only thing better than being loud at home is to be loud on the road...

So, with all of the Alums down here on Long Island are there plans for the game?

    Pre game party?

    After game VICTORY party?
