What are the best and worst case scenarios for us at this point?
-
Rumors are flying. Delaware, Northeastern and Davidson to the A10?
Marcus Henry @marchenrysports13hIf, according to a source, the A-10 moves on Davidson, Delaware and Northeastern, the CAA needs to move fast@HofstraPride @WUSBSportsRadio

BRUTUS!! WHAT UP WITH THE CAMERA YO?
-
How good right about now does it look that we have a new awesome stadium going up, men just won the AE and repped us in the NCAA, ladies back to back etc.
Plus a decent size TV market.
-
TV deal sounds good, but what has it done for Hofstra and NU (or really any CAA members)? Again, a PIG game and a 16 seed blowout.
IMO, the best TV and PR exposure comes from a NCAA tourney bid and a respectable seed. Which conference gives us the best chance at that every year?
We have what we want in FCS Football.
Not really arguing against the CAA here but it seems like a wash. I just wish there were better options for us (not the MAC, ugh).
-
I want to be affiliated with East coast schools, not Midwest schools. CAA BB was in the gutter this year. So much so that the NCAA rewarded them with a PIG against LIU Brooklyn and a quick exit against IU.
I like UA_MA's idea of the AE getting aggressive and stealing Delaware and RI, and maybe some others. I know most of us aren't thrilled with UMASS-Lowell, but they're still a decent sized state-school and they have nice facilities.
**OK, posted the above before I saw danefan's comments. I guess what I am saying is...maybe the AE isnt so bad right now until a better than CAA option comes along.

I'm a big fan of Dr. Jones. Has really impressed me so far.
So_Cal....also need to factor in our general lack of solid leadership over the past decade. We've played President musical chairs for awhile. That situation obviously didnt help. Looks like we have someone in place that can and wants to deliver. See the recent $300MM request for building upgrades.
-
Yeah, I know what you are saying but I kind of feel like the CAA is a bit of a sinking ship. Seems like all of their members are bailing for bigger/better...so we'd be upgrading into a reduced conference. How much longer will JMU be there? Richmond? Delaware to an extent?
That being said, I do like your idea of a new league but chances of that happening? Also not a fan of Elon, Furmon or Wofford.
-
Wow. FGCU!!
That could/should have been us!!
-
I want to be in whichever conference gives us the greatest chance of consistently making it into the NCAA tourney. Seems like that is the AE to me.
-
Damn, I wish we played Georgetown. They are getting smacked around.

A+++++++++++++.
A win against Duke would have added another million pluses to that, but given how their roster is full of NBA prospects I really can't ask for much more. We didn't get blown out and we played them tough. Mad respect for what CB pulled off this season.
-
I am now a Duke fan. I want them to win it all so we can say we played the national champs TOUGH.
I hope we do a better job of parlaying this into bigger and better things...it's been a long road to get back to the top of the mountain. Now that we are here again...I don't want to fall off again. It's been an awesome few weeks...sad that it's over and we now have to wait 'till October again.Agreed.

The one thing I really enjoyed about this tournament: social media. It wasn't nearly as big back in 2006 or 2007...and Twitter didn't even exist. Seeing all of the students and alums rallying around the Danes has been fun to watch!

PROUD!!!!!
-
If we made some baskets it would be much closer. Impressed with their ability to get inside but it doesnt matter much if you cant close.
-
SB Nation has us winning the mascot tourney. Awesome.

Amid all the rumors, a major announcement today on a $3B deal:

One open spot for CAA all sports....who gets it? UA or SB?
-
I got nostalgic last night and busted out my yearbook from when I graduated (1997). I think you will laugh when you see these screenshots, but it is a testament to how far we've come in a relatively short amount of time. Enjoy...

Some dude wearing a Duke shirt at the RACC. I bet nobody imagined we'd be playing them 16 years later in the NCAA Tournament!

I took that to mean that's it's UA's portion of the overall SUNY endowment but I could be wrong.
-
I love the media attention. The way I see it, we need to squeeze this for all its worth. Get the UA name out there as much as possible so potential recruits and students know who we are.

Indeed. I think we are positioned well.
We've enjoyed considerable success in several sports.
We've demonstrated a commitment to facilities.
We have a new leader who believes in athletics.
We have 20k students at a popular state university in a good sized media market.
I gotta believe we look great to several conferences and schools who share those characteristics.
