It looks like Hamlet Tibbs might only be at Notre Dame for a season. Mike Brey announced he'll be retiring and they're having a fairly awful year - a couple of games below .500 and at the bottom of the ACC. They were swept by Boston College this year - YIKES!
I kinda forgot Cam Healy was still playing college basketball but he's averaging over 6 points a game at Southern Utah who is in second place in the WAC.
CJ Kelley is having a great year at UCF. He leads them in assists, steals and is second in scoring. UCF is 13-6 with a home game against #1 Houston next week.

Nothing wrong with wanting your own guy. He just picked the WRONG guy and both need to go. The next AD will come in and pick their OWN guy as well.
That's fine but less than 2 years ago we were told Killings was the guy to take us to another level.
I know people lose their minds when I mention the Binghamton scandal but I'll say this: after all that happen under Kevin Broadus, Binghamton STILL had to pay out the remaining years of his contract (somewhere north of a million dollars.)
I'm not a lawyer but I have read some John Grisham novels. I don't see anything changing with the assault charges against Killings. The school already knew about it and did nothing but the half-buttocked suspension earlier this year.
I expect Coach Killings will serve out the remaining 3 years of his deal. I'm not an accountant either but the school isn't going to may over a million dollars to buy out Killings plus whatever they're going to have to pay to settle the federal lawsuit.

I'm guessing Reddish isn't one of those 7.
The average age of NJIT is 22 because de Graaf has to be like 30 years old by now. Or so it seems.

I don't know how long Bryant has been D1 but it feels like Miles Latimer has been playing against us since WE went D1 20 years ago.

Change title of thread to Bryant...
Changed.
I think Eli wants to hold on to that UML win as long as possible.

UML barely squeaked by NJIT and Maine and might have been looking forward to a showdown with Vermont. We cured them of that thinking.
This could be this year's Boston College game but whatever it is, I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

It seemed like the first few games that Cooper was back they were trying to limit her minutes. They didn't do that tonight and it's probably bad news for the rest of the AE if that continues.

Tell me again how our coach knows how to put a TEAM or GAMEPLAN together. Yes, having Neely out is one thing...but it would not radically change the tide of this team. Sorry, been watching for two years and see limited strategy and coaching on the fly. We are VERY similar to St. John's. Lot's of individual talent and athletes...but is is like food shopping while hungry. Ya end up with a ribeye, cookies, cake, apples, mustard, and caviar. All good or fancy things individually, together a disaster unless a master chef knows how to craft something out of it.
I don't really agree. Drumgoole and Beagle are good players but there's a drop off after those two. Good opposing coaches are going to find a way to exploit that.
At the beginning of the year I thought this roster looked similar to the ones we had in the early D1 days and we're getting similar results to those years.
Going into conference play I thought we might be able get some wins against the bottom half of the conference - Bing, NJIT, Maine and UNH. Now, I'm not so sure - Bing looked better against Bryant and NJIT looked better against UML than we did against New Hampshire. Maybe getting Edmead back and healthy will help.

I agree...the defense is shockingly bad which is hard to figure out because defense is a lot of effort and some smarts. How can they be this bad on that end. Fine, you recruiter a roster of kids that can't shot...but how can they defend this poorly?
Some of it is the roster. We were thin in the front court before Neely went down. Now, we're pretty much playing a small forward at the power forward spot all the time. That helps make us one of the worst defensive rebounding teams in the country. So we're giving up offensive rebounds and high percentage shots.
Also, we have a lot of small guards this year. Last year, we had Champion, Horton and Cerruti who were all 6'4 guards. This year we're playing Edmead and Davis at the same time a lot of time and opposing guards are having an easier time shooting over them.

Davis played 6 minutes, missed a lay-up; a short jumper was blocked the full length of the court, that led to dunk; and with 1.1 seconds on the shot clock passed the ball back behind himself, instead of throwing up something or trying to get fouled? Box score had him 0 for 2 shooting; not sure what the other miss was, unless the blocked shot counted as a miss. He is playing himself out of the rotation. Not sure if he is trying too hard, or just too nervous; but seems totally lost out there??
No offense to Davis but I'm glad the experiment of playing Edmead and Davis at the same time seems to be over.
In general, I thought Edmead played like a PG.
I'll echo those who like Patel. I thought he would be more of a sniper than he's show so far, but he is all-hustle.

Luke Fizulich. It is a bad take on Black Lives Matter, Blue Live Matter, etc.
This is going after DK...and I think it is absolutely stupid.
This a really weird way to address it but it's not like the issue came from nowhere. The issue came from well-paid adults making lousy decisions.

Eli .... do not recall from past posting whether you believe in the vaccine regiments for COVID, Flu, Shingles and other shots recommend for the different age groups .... Since start of the COVID regiments, I have had twelve jabs and except for one brief period, I have remind well .... so I have concluded they work and are safe for most people
In the name of Arch B. Swain I ask that you guys NOT start debating Covid or vaccines. Or Covid vaccines. This season has been hard enough already without that.

Right I understand he had 2 years a Pitt. 1 was a covid year. Then he redshirt last year . Does that mean he has this year and 2 more after. That's kinda what I'm asking.
I
I've wondered the same thing. The only two guys on the roster who see to be out of eligbility after this year are Patel and Davis but we've already signed three players for next year so either Hutch or Drumgoole aren't coming back or something else is going on.
My concern is that this is a "resume-building" year for a guy like Drumgoole.

This game was over before it started. I think Drumgoole is not a terrible player. I think he is one of the only players that is worth anything. So I will ask this. I understand he is listed as a senior, however what is his eligibility year? Is he really a sophomore?
2019-2020 freshman
2020-2021 Covid year
2021-2022 redshirt
2022-2033 Sophomore ?
Does this make sense? Because nexy year with a jr (theoretically) Drumgoole, sophomore Neeley, and sophomore Beagle, and a Jr Reddish, at least had a decent core.
Drumgoole spent two seasons at Pitt. He's listed as a senior on the roster which he is academically. I would think he has another year left with the COVID year. I agree he's a good player and is having an all-conference type year so far.

Wow, you think we have problems with our men's BB program. Boston College already lost to Maine this season and now just lost to UNH.
That was an entertaining finish. Whoever at UNH recruited Clarence O Daniels should get a raise. They should have won in regulation - he got fouled on the tying three pointer. The ACC ain't what it used to be.

Given the family history at UMass, it's going to be quite a moment when Ketner steps on the floor tonight.

The state of New Jersey is apparently investigating Boog Robinson's Camden High team for possible recruiting violations. There's a hearing next week.
Camden is ranked #6 in the country in the preseason polls. Not sure how the investigation will impact them but they should have some games on ESPN.

You consider answering Eli’s question “pimping Siena’s wins?”
Not at all. He was just making conversation about a common opponent.
After Eli posted, I did find myself thinking about big Siena wins. Then I heard Bob87's voice in my head saying "lowly MAAC" until I stopped thinking about Siena.

Florida State may be the worst power conference team this season. I certainly don't feel a need to hype them over Washington
Florida State has been on a downward trend since 2019 when David Nichols transferred there from Albany. This is what happens to majors when they poach from mid-majors, they are cursed by the basketball Gods. The result is you end up losing to Siena on ESPN. Jay Wright at Villanova recognized this and retired before he had to live through it.
Not sure why people are pimping Siena's wins. Clearing the biggest Capital District basketball win is St. Rose over Syracuse.

I did say "diet" but yeah, I probably shouldn't post after watching. Or maybe just stop watching.

Brown had a history of poor recruiting, high turnover and awful offense....hire a new AD and let him go to work.
He also had a career winning record, 5 NCAA tournament appearances and in 18 years, had nothing like the crap we've seen in the last 18 months from the current staff. You can't spin that away no matter how hard you try.
None of that matters now, this is where we are and it's where we're going to be for a while. We are a diet version of the 2009 Binghamton, without the winning.

Killings needed to recruit a big. I thought Kellogg was brought in to help. Basically, the staff isn't playing Kellogg or Ketner...which means we have literally ZERO bigs other than Beagle. That's poor.
Roster construction has been a concern since before the season started and you hit the nail on the head. This is basically how we looked in the first few years of D1 when we'd get destroyed inside.

I don't know if it's confirmation but the community leaders who rallied for Coach Killings said they were there because he was going to fired.
