  1. The refs ignored the targeting call on Woodel's fumble. The SDSU player led with the crown of his helmet directly to Woodel's shoulder/ elbow. The refs even saw it on the instant replay. The SDSU guy should have been ejected; the penalty should have been assessed. Players suffer permanent injury because refs have a different standard in the NCAA playoffs. Richmond had a star player's future wrecked on a similar play by NDSU several years back. Rules are there to be enforced for player safety. It's disgusting.
  2. This is what happens when school bureaucrats are cheap. Your team was worn out. You could see it on defense. The seeding really helps these western schools.
  3. There are some real stinkers in CAA basketball. William and Mary has never made the NCCAM basketball tournament. They only made the CAA finals once. Many of these schools have never invested in their basketball facilities or programs. JMU only recently made this change. If JMU had made investments in its hoops, it would now be in the Big 10. JMU's long-term plan is to join the Big 10.
  4. Richmond fan here. The CAA offers the opportunity to get multiple bids to the FCS playoffs. This year we got 4 bids, some years we have gotten 5 bids. The CAA is one of the top 3 elite leagues in FCS. There are 8 teams in the CAA that have had success at the FCS level. These are Villanova, New Hampshire, Maine, W&M, Richmond, Elon, Towson, and Albany. Other former CAA teams, including JMU, ODU, UMass and Delaware made the jump to FBS. The CAA allows that to happen. Right now, seeding really favors the Western teams. It is not fair, but those are the rules. That changes if Albany beats SDSU. I think Albany has the opportunity to really make a statement. Your team is positioned for long term high level success in the FCS. You could replicate JMU's experience. No other league affords you that chance.
  5. SDSU's first game was against Western Oregon, a D2 team. They played no FBS teams. It seems to me SDSU may be a little overrated.
  6. I am an Albany fan. Your team reflects the nature of your coach. He is an old school Penn State defensive lineman. Your team is tough, gritty and hard nosed. They punched Idaho in the mouth. Keep it up.
  7. Richmond fan here. I watched the game, start to finish. You all are for real. You are the class of the CAA. You have a tough, gritty team. You have made the league better. You have made us proud. Now, you have unfinished business. You won the CAA, now go shock the world.
  8. This guy has a lot of enthusiasm... for the Spiders. He posts game predictions on Spidernation.com. Thread '2023 Richmond Spiders Football - FCS Playoffs - Prologue - UAlbany' https://richmond.forums.rivals.com/threads/2023-richmond-spiders-football-fcs-playoffs-prologue-ualbany.14780/
  9. Good riddance to Delaware. If Delaware cant win the CAA, how can it win in FBS? They are more like UConn and UMass than JMU. JMU is the only recent success story in the move up. UConn and UMass both regret the move to FBS, i suspect both are thinking about moving back to the CAA. The CAA has one of the strongest brands in FCS football. We did get 4 teams in the playoffs.
  10. The UR- NCCU score was 49-27. There were 2 fluke plays that cost the Spiders. One was a 60 yard run, where the UR player fumbled on the 4 yard line of NCCU. NCCU ultimately scored a TD. The second was a bone headed call for a fake punt by Richmond on its 20 yard line. Central scored in 4 plays.
  11. The Spiders believe they have unfinished business- they want to prove they are at the top of the CAA.
  12. Don't look past Stony Brook. This is a classic trap game. SBU will be ready. They have every motivation to spoil UAlbany's season.
  13. Also, it was Reeves who was wide open in the first OT and walzed right into the end zone. The hole was very plain and was open all day. Again, it was open all day.
  14. Are you his brother ot family member? Kid has no arm strength.WRs bailed him out, he's not the answer. Not to mention he throws a Joe Kapp ball, fuggly! To underscore my point. Your coaches saw that our DBs could not play with your WR's. Brunson kept hitting your WR Diggs, who I think is 5 11, over our guy Jordan, who was 5-9. Diggs had 5 receptions, probably all of them over the head of Jordan. Our DBs were chasing your WRs all day and our guys would not turn around to watch the ball. That was coaching and execution by Albany.
  15. Congrats on the win. Funny that is what you saw because no one here likes Brunson. I also think UA as outcoached today. Some terrible decisions by the staff but mostly the OC. EDIT: Maybe no one is a bit strong. There are a few people who do. The jury is still out for me personally. No way. You guys took advantage all day long with the out plays and the holes in our defense. We run a 4-2-5. There were openings that Brunson saw the entire game. Your O-line is young, but Albany destroyed Richmond in time of possession 36 minutes to 23 minutes. You kept our D on the field and wore them down. You shut down our running game.
  16. Brunson is the real deal. He put up 339 yards today. He will be the best QB in the conference next year. Your coach out-coached Richmond's. Albany shredded Richmond's 4-2-5 all day. Albany outplayed Richmond today and should have gotten the win.
  17. Albany matches up well against Richmond. Richmond has trouble stopping strong backs, which Mofor is. If your defense played like it did against Elon, expect an Albany win.
